LIVERPOOL are close to completing the signing of Anderson Talisca from Benfica, according to reports.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest talents to come out of Brazil and has been in impressive form for Benfica since signing from Bahia in 2014.

Talisca has scored 20 goals in 76 games for Benfica and played a key part in their title-winning success last season - despite starting just eight times in 26 games last term.

His displays for the Portuguese side have not gone unnoticed with Liverpool said to be interested in the Brazil Under-23 international.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to be keen on overhauling his squad ahead of his first full season in charge and Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claim he has now set his sights on Talisca.

It is claimed Klopp is in talks to sign the Brazilian forward and a deal is said to be close, with the FA apparently receiving a work permit application for Talisca.

Klopp has already been making waves in this summer's transfer window by signing centre-back Joel Matip on a free transfer, shot-stopper Loris Karius from Mainz and winger Sadio Mane from Southampton.

But with Christian Benteke set to leave the club - with Crystal Palace understood to be keen - it could facilitate a move for Talisca [/Article]

They sound very sure, yet it still somehow feels like made–up bollocks. If this indeed turns to be a brazen lie, I guess I'll have to go on another rant about Portuguese league and agents.

It's all BS, O Joja have never got anything right ever...they're the equilivant of the s*n, who are linking Talisca with Wolves.

ONE HUNDRED AND 10% this isn't happening.

They said we'd signed Eduardo Salvio, they said united had signed Gaitan about 10 times.

Actually, according to actual Portuguese (see Silly Season thread), they are the one paper that can sometimes be relied on (I've already posted this rumour in the Silly Season thread, over a week ago). Doesn't mean it's true though.
Same as Independent, Telegraph, Times .. they try to get it right rather than posting made-up bollocks, but are still wrong more often than not because that is the nature of reporting on the transfer market.

Think he's more of an attacking midfielder than striker.

[article]United chief Louis van Gaal had his top European scout in Portugal to see Talisca score a vital late winner for Benfica in their recent Champions League clash with Monaco. And the Reds plan to watch him again for Brazil against Austria on Tuesday.

It is not the first time Talisca – who can play off the main striker or as an attacking midfielder – has been among the goals for the Portuguese champions.

The goal against Monaco was his ninth in 10 games – and United have joined a queue that includes Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was first alerted when he was playing for Bahia in Brazil, and he is now Van Gaal’s main Premier League rival for the player. Talisca’s spectacular form saw him called up to the Brazil squad for the first time last week.

Former Bahia official Newton Mota says he is the new Rivaldo, although others compare him to Manchester City’s Yaya Toure.

Mota said: “Some people call him ‘Yaya Talisca’. His technique is very accurate but I liken him more to Rivaldo, who was also left-footed, with a long stride and capable of scoring goals from distance.”

Benfica officials are believed to be pressing the youngster and his advisors to sign a new contract with a big buy-out clause rumoured to be around £35million.[/article]

He isn't a striker. Change the thread title Red Ninja before a stream of people start bemoaning his scoring stats.

This is the third time the same link has come up. I've got to admit, I don't know an awful lot about him... so yes spend £20m+
