No no he won't.

I've accepted Torres going, but not Gerrard. I'd be heartbroken.

Quite the reverse for me.

I wish I could be as optimistic as Vlad...
[/quote]

How am I optimistic Bunny?

Other than, I think Benitez going is a positive as he is a major factor with our immediate problems.
It could be that there is a reason for it as regards new owners, but it might not be.

i reckon we can get another year out of gerrard and torres but if we don't get rich owners within that year then they'll 100% be off next summer. i can see mash staying as well due to a lack of suitors.

PLAN Sack Rafa: Keep Torres and Gerrard.
Outcome: Rafa leaves and they want to leave too.

PLAN Appoint Kenny to keep them
Outcome: Honest Kenny tells Gerrard to do what's best for his career: Gerrard leaves.

Not quite the strategists we thought we were on SCM.

True, true...

I spent an hour discussing manager options with a mate of mine last night, and we agreed that this is the first time in our lifetimes where there is no single out-and-out exciting option to take, not a single one.

With this backdrop Kenny taking over until the Sultan of Brunei comes and buys us, hiring Mourinho, and buying the whole of the Real first team to win the ressies league, is by far the most appealing option.

Lets go with that analogy, yes Casser.

This thread is unbelieveable and has all the hall marks of bentiez's reign right here in the thread

Fom the moment of genius (Gene's persistant fish inclusions in his posts)
Utter Loonacy (Some of Rebel's reasoning on a conspiracy theory that only seems to make sense to him)
Constant Stubborness (spidey and rebel's unending devotion to the we're doomed mantra)
Shockingly Good moments (some of GRJT's posts have been right on the mark)
Shockingly Bad Moments (most of rebel's posts)
Low's (somebody's constant vilification of poor spidey)
High's (the news of his departure itself)

As far as benitez is concerend i really like the guy, but i do agree and believe that the time is right for his departure, he has given us that i have listed above. I wish him all the best and will remember him fondly for all the good things he's done, and cast some of the fustrations and bad things to the dark shadow's of my mind.
As for his replacement, i have no opinion on this at the moment as i am unsure what the options are, but i really dont want see o'neil at our club that's for sure!

Regardless of how long he's been out of the game, I would love for Kenny to be installed as manager. He's four years younger than Hodgson and ten younger than Ferguson and still has plenty to offer.

Houllier and Benitez were renowned for the long hours spent on doing their homework on the opposition, studying countless videos of previous games etc but where did it get them? Kenny was a wonderful player and an astute, inspirational manager who commanded total respect and loyalty from his players. He also didn't bog his players down with tactics but rather picked a balanced side with players in positions where they're most comfortable. Apart from the occasional dropping of Beardsley for away games, he also sent out his best team preferring the opposition to worry about what Liverpool were going to do to them.

As for the "modern" aspects of the game that may have passed Kenny by in recent times, that's what younger assistants are for. I'm quite sure old Fergie and Uncle Woy do not personally study and dissect the GPS data from their players. Carragher or perhaps even Barnes could do that stuff leaving Kenny to what's he's good at.

Whether it's the late eighties or 2010, football remains a simple game complicated by fools.

Erm, this plan means buying Xabi back, right? I'm on board!

I think Wilko and grjt have it spot on in suggesting Kenny as caretaker while we all catch our breath.

BTW I disagree with those who think Stevie will go anyway. Anyone who's read his book and seen how much the Chelsea business tore him up inside will know, if they didn't anyway, how deep and strong his roots are in the club. I may be leading with my chin here but my bet is that Stevie'll stay now, and that Nando will too, for another season at least. Mascher's the most likely of our top players to leave IMO, and even that's because of his family.

Actually... fuck it... what is the relationship between Gerrard & Dalglish????

Dalglish left Liverpool in 1991 when Gerrard was 11.

His relationship with LFC growing up was with Steve Highway... and I expect he would have been very pissed off at Benitez' treatment of him.

Formative early years Roy Evans, but Houllier gave him the start and was the "father figure" and arugably he had his best season under Benitez.

Where does Dalglish fit in?

Actually... fuck it... what is the relationship between Gerrard & Dalglish????

Dalglish left Liverpool in 1991 when Gerrard was 11.

His relationship with LFC growing up was with Steve Highway... and I expect he would have been very pissed off at Benitez' treatment of him.

Formative early years Roy Evans, but Houllier gave him the start and was the "father figure" and arugably he had his best season under Benitez.

Where does Dalglish fit in?

Per my earlier post - you know absolutley nothing, but this didnt stop you having an opinion. Now you are actually asking for clarification on the topic you have already commented on; fantatsic!

make it crystal clear for me then.....

Just before I do, are you genuinely admitting that you made a know-nothing jibe at a posted point of view, but are now owning up to not knowing a single jot of the background on the topic?

No... Dalglish was my hero.... bujt apart from being a legend I don't seer the relevance with Gerrard.

Quite frankly.... I'm half pissed... so if you want to make a complete bollocks of me... now's your chance.

But I warn you..... be very sure....
