Liverpool sack Rafa Benitez

Whoah... hang on a minute! I take one day off to eat and drink with friends I haven't seen in years, come back on and... a 27-page thread about the manager being sacked (possibly)! And Brendan being banned too! What times we live in...

Can someone summarise the contents of this thread in a few lines for me?

I may be a glass half empty kind of guy but I really think the yanks are pathing the way for big sales. there are no buyers on the horizons and with no CL football they will struggle to make loan repayments so they will sell big and use that money for loans and then hire a manager used to operating on a shoe string and getting the best out of a modest squad.

Sure:

Rafa's been offered 3M to fuck off.
Most people think that's sound.
I don't.
David Maddock's a fucking lazy hack.
Everyone *still* hates Rebel.
And Y1's about to break all this news (again) in the next hour.

That person sounds like Everton's manager or MON.

Hahaha, Ryan I lurve youse!

My time zone is 8 hrs ahead or is it 16 hrs removed!?

vlad said the yanks wouldn't willingiy damage their product but look what happened with corinthians and with the dallas cowboys. the yanks first and foremost priority will be making sure the loan repayments are meet not that we climb up the table.

true but once the likes of torres, gerrard and mesh leave then it will be the worst squad in the top 7 and I very much doubt the new manager will be given all the funds from the sales. where's the keane money? oh, that's right the yanks didn't trust rafa to spend it, sure...

That's a fucking wank article from Maddock.

Torres was the worst player on the pitch by miles that day, and as we now know - was carrying a major injury.

2=2=5260 from Maddock, the fucking hack.
That's not quite true. Benitez said afterwards he wasn't injured and he played 90 mins in the next game which was in the UEFA cup.

He was being taken off to rest him for European competition, a hallmark of the Benitez reign.

There is no way that the Yanks will sell our prize assets. No way.

Getting rid of Rafa might be a neccesary evil to get started from scratch. He lost 19 games last season, and would have lost his job in any other top club.

He's become very political in the last 2 years, using every press conference and interview to have a pop at someone and talking his own cause. And for that, it's time to move on. Having a go at Riera after his comments and then using his own press conference before the Atletico game to talk about everything else than football. That was fucking awful to see.

He's a big part of why this club is in the shits, and he needed to go along with the owners.

If the rumours are true about certain players, star players, wanting to leave if he stayed then this decision was needed.

It's subsequently become clear that Torres has been injured for months before and after that game. AHe certainly played like he was injured that day, a game in which he was fucking diabolical. Something that's conveniently forgotten by many.

Benitez played Torres in the league everytime he was fit and available for the last 2 years.

But you leave your best striker on the pitch when you need a win. Thats a golden rule mate. Taking off a world class striker and bringing on a 20 year old that is in over his head is madness. If we had a good striker on the bench, then I could have justified that sub.

But in that particular game against Brum, what he did was insane. You could see it in Torres reaction, he could have played on minor injury or not. I'm sorry mate, but Rafa lost everyone with that sub.
I really don't get this attitude. There's a cult like following of Rafa and it's completely unfathomable.

The less we pay him, the better of we are yet you want to see them pay the 16m. Mental.

no subs till the 65 minute regardless of what was happening on the pitch - rafa's fault

horrendous signings in the past two seasons; doss, keane, aqua, riera - rafa's fault

cautious mentality especially away from home - rafa's fault

despite that liverpool, season before last we're top at christmas and finished 4 points behind the record breaking (clean sheets) manu.

---

witholding the keane money - the yanks fault

a profit nett for the past two transfer windows - yanks fault

having the lowest wage bill of the top 5 - the yanks fault

this to me at least showed that when backed he challenged and when money was witheld he struggled.

What are the chances of new owners, serious contenders, being entertained and nothing leaking ?

Apart from the Hong Kong gambling geezer, I've heard nowt.
Exactly.

Kopking, would you rather Benitez got his full whack compensation than the club saving the money?
I would rather Rafa got the compensation that a) he is owed b) he deserves and c) that he should get before the banks. Every penny we make is paid to pay interest that's why we are in profit over the last two years transfer windows, so your question is irrelevant.

I see where you were trying to go with this. Rafa deserves to be treated decently and in line with his contract and because we are poorly run and cash poor should not be an excuse to treat our most successful manger in 20 years in a shoddy manner. If we go to the wall over a measly £16m, it would go to show the desperate situation we were in.
Bearing in mind that Rafa bullied and badgered his way to that suer-duper contract and then proceeded to provide execrable service, I dont think its as simple as that.
"bullied and badgered"

You should write for The Lying Rag with that misguided hyperbole.

Even if he did "bully and badger" to get himself the contract he wanted, why shouldn't he? Do you expect him to bend over and accept whatever he's offered?

How do you think Ferguson and Mourinho do their contract negotiations?
Well they don't do them in the media like Benitez did.

Both of them have a modicum of respect for the clubs they work for.

Quick question:

What if Rafa says no to the 3M offer?
Then he's an adjective-adjective-noun.

Take the money and run
If your employer offered you less than 1/5th of what you were owed, what would you say?
That depends whether

a) I was already earning £4m a year and
b) I'd completely failed in my role as manager

The point being, of course, that the two situations are not even remotely comparable.

We're well within our rights to demand he doesn't take up a job for the next four years if we do have to pay him that money.

And he's under a duty to mitigate his losses from any contract that has been breached. So he has to seek another job. We won't pay anything close to £16m to him.
