Ryan, come on mate you don't seriously mean that?

You leave your best striker on when you need to win games. Simple really.
If only everything was that black & white/simplistic.

No, I do not agree with that. And no, I don not want to go into that argument again.

no subs till the 65 minute regardless of what was happening on the pitch - rafa's fault

horrendous signings in the past two seasons; doss, keane, aqua, riera - rafa's fault

cautious mentality especially away from home - rafa's fault

despite that liverpool, season before last we're top at christmas and finished 4 points behind the record breaking (clean sheets) manu.

---

witholding the keane money - the yanks fault

a profit nett for the past two transfer windows - yanks fault

having the lowest wage bill of the top 5 - the yanks fault

this to me at least showed that when backed he challenged and when money was witheld he struggled.
Spidey you ignored me the last time I called you out on your wage bill nonsense :

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/19/premier-league-finances

Read it. We're a hopelessly mismanaged club , he had to go.
spurs' wage bill is 60m and and city's wage bill is 80m? bullshit that list is hopelessly out of date.

Dreambeliever, if you think we are going to shed ourselves of Rafa and suddenly be a force again you are mental.
This is the beginning. Torres, Gerrard and Mascherano will probably leave, little or no investment will be made in the squad, the club could take years to sell and all the while Man city, spurs, Chelsea, arsenal, Manchester and probably Everton and villa will strengthen. We aren't anywhere near the bottom yet, it will almost certainly get a lot worse before it gets better.

No one has mentioned his guarantee of 4th place in this discussion.
Surely if a manager comes out and makes a statement like that in public, and then just about finishes 7th, a0 he should resign and b) if he doesn't then sacking is not unreasonable, let alone chuck £3m at him and everyone feel he is being fiddled.

Quick question:

What if Rafa says no to the 3M offer?
Rafa should tell them to get to fuck. Pay up cunts, you paid Parry.
I really don't get this attitude. There's a cult like following of Rafa and it's completely unfathomable.

The less we pay him, the better of we are yet you want to see them pay the 16m. Mental.
I'm not saying we should, nor do I want us to. But Rafa's well within his rights to demand the 16M.
We're well within our rights to demand he doesn't take up a job for the next four years if we do have to pay him that money.

And he's under a duty to mitigate his losses from any contract that has been breached. So he has to seek another job. We won't pay anything close to £16m to him.
Exactly so, this was mentioned a long time ago, when the headline figure was £20m, but then as now people stick their fingers in their ears when they don't want to hear something.

Perhaps so, but I feel much more positive about the future than I did yesterday when I thought we were going to have more of the same with Rafa and Rafa v The Owners.
We may lose the players you speak of , but if what we are being told is right and what a number of us have suspected, the chance of it happening is slimmer than it was.
It could also be the trigger or be a condition of selling the club.
Its totally insane the hold Rafa has over some fans. It boggles the mind.
I think it's Richey who has made a good point a couple of times that Rafa has evidenced that he cannot work under the constraints any manager of ours is forced to work under because of our desperate finances. He can't. So regardless of emotional attachment we need to find a manager who can (a moyes, Wenger) manage on a shoestring. Rafas worshippers point to the fact he isn't given money as to why he's totally and abjectly failed in the bare minimum expectations of his job. Well there is no money. So if rafa is a manager who needs to spend 30m a season just to maintain 4th then he is not suited to this job.
It's a great point Richey? Has made and it's been almost completely ignored by most......and then some shite about purslow once running over a kitten is trotted out.

The Purslow thing is laughable, I meant to comment yesterday, when everyone, sorry the cult, thought he was Rafa's chum he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. When they find out that Purslow like every other person that comes across him, starts having doubts and witnessing the way he operates first hand, he is a cunt.
Someone called him the snake, as he was accompanying Benitez on press conferences.....I wonder why?

Parry for the drip that everyone thought he was, had the measure of Benitez, and as sure as God made little green apples Parry would not have given Benitez that contract, and is probably the reason he went.
The only reason the yanks agreed to it was under misapprehension that it would appease the majority of fans, and clearly had not heard the term "vocal minority", they also mistakenly thought he was better than he was.
So that probably draws the two factions together, yes it is than yanks fault for not standing up to Benitez sooner, and yes it is Rafa's fault for, amongst other things , squandering last seasons budget the way he did

Just been on ScumCafe to see if theres any latest news.

3 of the top5 threads are about Rafa.

(ones about the supposed RAWK meltdown)

Not going on there tho, I suspect it's true

Well, I think the probability is the squad is going to get more investment now than had Rafa stayed, the senior players wanted him gone, so the chances of keeping the the star players has improved two fold

Oncy, thanks and well remembered. I stand by that point.

The money issue may explain why Benitez failed - I don't subscribe to it but can accept it as a theory! - but its not a reason he should manage us as we are now.

It seems we have budget constraints. No point moaning about it, its where we are. I would rather have a manager who can work within those constraints than have one who clearly can't but MIGHT do better with more money

I think what they want is solid proof, not empty promises (again).

Sky Sports sources understand Rafa Benitez is to leave Liverpool in the next 48 hours as the two parties continue to negotiate a severance package.

News broke of Benitez's likely departure on Wednesday night, with the Spaniard believed to be on the cusp of leaving Anfield after a hugely disappointing past campaign.

Liverpool were expected to mount a serious title tilt after finishing second in the previous season but instead an early exit from the UEFA Champions League was followed by a failure to qualify for next term's premier club competition, after finishing seventh in the Premier League.

Reports emanating from the Merseyside outfit have suggested Benitez has lost the support of senior figures within the dressing room, with key duo Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrardlinked with summer departures.

Sky Sports has learnt that Benitez will likely confirm his exit within the next 48 hours, although his agent is refusing to comment on the speculation.

Manuel Garcia Quilon said: "We don't know anything more than what's being said. We're not saying anything."

Various figures have been mooted with regards how much it will take to pay-off the Spanish tactician, with the club now looking to thrash out terms that suit both parties.

That is correct, but quite frankly this call should have been made prior to the only credible manager signing with Real Madrid, we should have at least had a go of persuading him to come to us. Whats left ? - Hodgson, O' Neill ??? - Simply not good enough to manage Liverpool. As it stands, with the lack of a decent replacement, Dalglish will be Liverpool's next manager. IT will look good to prospective buyers to have such a legend back at the helm of a great sporting instituion wont it.

Anyone who thinks that we had a realistic chance of attracting Mourinho at this point in time (with our current financial plight and RM being in for him) is quite clearly on drugs.
