Liverpool sack Rafa Benitez

I do feel a bit sorry for Rafa this morning, I don't doubt that he loved the club and wanted to do his best by it, but he lost his way and I'm inclined to believe the version of events that suggests he lost the players too. And it's not just the five second clip of Gerrard's reaction to Torres being taken off. It's more than that, it's almost every performance this season, flat games where no one seems to be fighting for the cause and believing in themselves or their team mates, the signs of decline and resignation have been there all season, and all season it's felt like the end of an era.

I wish Rafa the best, I really do, and I will always love him for giving us Istanbul, without a doubt the greatest moment as a Red for anyone of my generation, the FA Cup the year after was great too, and one I will always remember as it was my first FA Cup Final.

But this was necessary, enough was enough, he had to go. For all the grief we want to give the owners. Rafa was the man managing and picking the team, that team finished 7th this season, and they were awful to watch. He can't take us any further.

I'm sure he'll go on to do great things at another Club, but this match just didn't fit anymore. All the best Rafa, thanks for the memories.

And I hope we just do the sensible thing now and appoint a temp/caretaker Manager until we get new owners. Kenny would be the sensible option.

This season made me want to stop watching Liverpool FC at times, and thats tragic. He deserves to go and I wish him every success in his future career.

Well, I think the probability is the squad is going to get more investment now than had Rafa stayed, the senior players wanted him gone, so the chances of keeping the the star players has improved two fold
The star player, has had far to much to say if the press reports are to be believed. People need to remember no one is bigger than the club.
Noone is bigger than the club... But please be aware that there are too many clubs growing bigger than this club, and that calls for some action.
That is correct, but quite frankly this call should have been made prior to the only credible manager signing with Real Madrid, we should have at least had a go of persuading him to come to us. Whats left ? - Hodgson, O' Neill ??? - Simply not good enough to manage Liverpool. As it stands, with the lack of a decent replacement, Dalglish will be Liverpool's next manager. IT will look good to prospective buyers to have such a legend back at the helm of a great sporting instituion wont it.
Anyone who thinks that we had a realistic chance of attracting Mourinho at this point in time (with our current financial plight and RM being in for him) is quite clearly on drugs.
If you want to be the best, you got to get the best. Whether we had a realistic chance of getting him or not is irrelevant. To sack your current manager a few days after the best replacement out there signs for someone else is fucking criminal to say the least. Now we'll look towards appointing a manager who pretty much sums up our club, a second rate one.
Bloody hell Oncy, why don't you just unban him?

Is he definitely going to leave though? I'd be relieved and optimistic if Rafa was gone, but what happens if he just refuses the pay-off? And if the RAWK-ites take to the streets to demand his retention? The club could end up paralysed. I just want this to be over now.

Personally I'd offer Roy Hodgson an 18-month contract and see how he does. The idea of Dalglish or Sammy Lee managing us makes me very nervous, as does the idea of another foreign manager, unproven in the PL, being given a long-term contract.

Let us guess....

Cursing out some newbie with his usual brand of bile?

He's like the neighborhood binman, cleaning out the trash, so he serves his purpose.

If you think that weally weally wanting him to be our manager, outweighs all logical sense that he was NEVER going to be at this time then you are either 12 years of age, or (as previously posited) you are on drugs.

Ha, it's just cos your so convincing!

Maybe im just more patient than most but I think Rafa getting sacked because of the ineptitude and greed of our current owners is an absolute fucking tragedy.

Its fucking shocking.

The rafa haters have there opinion on Rafa spot on or so they think but just don't seem to grasp the full picture, its all very well saying "ah but we are LFC" they'll flock to us etc.... nah the wont, will they fuck. You would have to be a fucking lunatic to go to the club at the moment. It is so totally cancer ridden debt wise we cant even pay the man his severance fee.

we finished 7th.... all down to Rafa... I'll bet there will still be posters on here sitting around waiting for Silva to appear on the last day of the transfer window just like last year.

It's fucking madness, all of it.

If Benitez refuses the pay off he will remain on gardening leave I suspect until an agreement is reached some way or another.

The fact that it has got to this stage means he won't be managing the team any longer, its just a case of how long it takes to settle things with him and move on

It is indeed "Dirty Harry". Clint Eastwood grins all the way through saying it, but the grin seems out of context and his character doesn't make a habit of it anyway, so I like to think he couldn't stop himself and they had to write it in.

If you think that line is ad-libbed, you're a bit simple
And you're simple if you think you can carry on insulting people. You were warned.

I think banned members disappear from that view but then return once their ban is lifted.

Which also suggests that everyone who is on there is NOT banned. There are some worrying people who are not banned.

The madness of it all is that idiots like you are still trying to assuage Rafa of all responsibility for his current predicament.

The clubs owners are fuckwits. Thanks, we know. This has very little to do with the fact that Benitez' performance has been totally fucking woeful, and that to quote the much over-used phrase - he has clearly lost the changing room.
