Might aswell start a new thread. Italian media reporting that he could be close to joining Inter.
Add that with one of the few on Twitter that gets stuff right. It looks like it could happen.

@Jay_78_: Hearing Lucas is going to Inter, deal to be concluded over the next few days. #LFC

Lucas has been good and consistent for us in the last games he's played.
If we havent got a quality replacement lined up, this transfer is not a good idea.

He might not be a very good player but he's the best DM we've got in the squad.

Dunno if Can is suited to that kinda role, we'd have to get someone in but Lucas isn't going for much

He'll be a success for Inter. The game in Italy is played at a much slower pace which will suit him fine.
His game intelligence will be better used there, and the sharpness he's acquired playing EPL football for so many years will be a big advantage there.
I think we need a better CM/DM than Lucas, but I agree that as long as we don't have anyone better than him we should keep him.

I'm absolutely fine with this.

We might suffer a bit in the short term if we don't replace him but it's time to move on. He's not getting any better

This was rumoured a few days ago with a swap for Vidic. Hope not as he was shite in his last year at the mancs and is supposed to be making loads of mistakes in Italy.

He's been a key factor in our slow return to flowing football. If this means Stevie goes back to DM it is a complete fuck up. If it means we get another DM who Rodgers and Co think is better than Lucas then great.

It should also be pointed out that Jay 78 gets loads of stuff wrong. We still haven't signed Reus. Italian media don't seem too reliable either.

I don't think Rodgers wants a DM at all.

We wont make a swap with Vidic.
If Lucas leaves it will be a transfer. Fee is quoted by Gazzetta at 7 mill.

Will be interesting to see what happens and if we've got someone lined up.
If not, we're a shambles.

Unless we have a competent replacement lined up why would we be selling him. He's been consistently top three MOM since he's come back in the team. A run that has coincided in an upturn in our fortunes.

From Barrett:

Rodgers has never been totally convinced by Lucas’s worth, though, and should Inter make an offer of sufficient financial weight, the likelihood is that Liverpool will allow him to depart if they can recruit a replacement, either on loan or permanently, before the January transfer closes.

Talk of a 7m bid for Delph.

Meanwhile, twitterings that Milner was left out of the City squad today for contractual reasons, not injury...

Bollocks....

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...le-this-season-as-he-returns-from-injury.html

Rodgers was fulsome in his praise of 25-year-old Lucas, saying he has already surpassed his high expectations.
“I have to say, I’ve only been in the job a short period of time and when I first arrived everyone told me how special Lucas was as a player and a character, and in reality he’s been even better than that when I’ve met him,” said Rodgers.
"He is the ultimate professional and he is going to be a brilliant player for me in my career here at Liverpool and I’m looking forward to seeing him fully fit. I know every day of his life he is fighting hard to get there, and not only is he a top footballer but a great person.”

Really? He was practically sucking Lucas' cock in Being Liverpool.

Lucas may not be "all that" but he brings a disciplined presence to a largely undisciplined team.
While he will need to be replaced/upgraded on at some point in the future, doing it now, while still trying to cement the progress we made last season, smacks of over egged long termism.
Plus I don't think Rodgers really wants to have a DM

That doesnt really mean much though. A 2,5 year old article. A lot has happened since then and there were some rumours he was told he could leave this summer.

If we sell him and buy Delph I give up.

Italian sport media again reporting this evening that Inter can only afford loan with option to buy for Lucas. #LFC would be mad to accept

Lucas disciplined? Must be the bogeyman who keeps giving away needless fouls right outside our box.

I find it strange that people say that Rodgers doesn't want a Dm. he played with Britton regularly at Swansea.
