The only player I'd feel calm replacing Lucas with is Witsel.

Despite us getting dicked this season without him people still think he's useless?

Think people think he's not a good player however the best we have at DM

Wow.
It's not Lucas though, it's a player that can play the DM role. No one is saying he's useless, they're saying he's currently the only player with these skills and ability but we can and should get better.

No one is saying that he's "useless" but some are acting as if he doesn't have anything to do with our current resurgence.
Selling him now is the last thing we should do. But some act as if it doesn't matter. Thats like saying he's useless.

No, no it's not.

Lucas not leaving in this window then. Good, without a quality replacement that would have a stupid decision.

@Liddellpool: Rodgers has no intention of selling Lucas let alone loaning him as Rodgers considers the player to have an important role to play at Anfield

Lucas is easily the best dm we have.

We play better with him at dm than without.

I don't like lucas. I don't have him in my best Liverpool side. However, we have no one better at the moment, & need to play with a dm more often than not, so selling him is madness, complete insanity.

I think when he's playing like this and the fact we have no other "natural" option there, he's fairly indispensable at the moment. People have asked genuine questions throughout his career, for various reasons - he hasn't always been needed, he hasn't always been consistent and his flaws, like the pointless fouls, have been difficult for him to iron out. That said, he's got a brilliant attitude, loves the club, is a likeable lad and a big dressing room figure, he is playing out of his skin at the minute and is rightly one of the first names on the teamsheet. No complaints from many people when players do this, hit form and fight for a place, it's exactly what you want to see, regardless of how you may see them in the bigger picture.

I think he's earned the right to stay here, even if only as a squad player beyond this season (has he ever really been more than that anyway?).

@MarkmaccaMc @DAVEPETHARD Oh I've been told that too, but Dave was told something interesting today on him.

Back to Delph then...

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva set for Napoli move if Reds can lure Fabian Delph to Anfield in January Jan 12, 2015 22:30 By James Nursey

Lucas Leiva could be set to link up with his former boss Rafa Benitez Liverpool are ready to ship out midfielder Lucas Leiva to Napoli if they land Fabian Delph. The Anfield club head the chase for the Aston Villa midfielder, whose contract is up this summer, and are now trying to lure him this month. Brazilian defensive midfielder Lucas is not a guaranteed starter under Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool see Delph as a potential replacement for their outgoing skipper He is keen to link up again with former Reds boss Rafael Benitez in Italy, who took him to Merseyside in 2007. Benitez has been chasing Lucas for over a year since going to the Serie A outfit in 2013. Lucas, who turned 28 this month, is set to be made available on loan if Liverpool get Delph and Benitez is hopeful of finally landing his man.

Let me be the first to give support to a Fabian Delph signing. Especially if it is under 8 million pound.

A midfield of Can, Hendo, Delph has the ability to be very tasty. I think of Delph as a lefty version of Hendo, except I think he's more comfortable on the ball, better technique, faster and weaker, better tackler but surely not as accomplished with the final ball. I would expect him to get better if he came. And the base is there for him to be a very good all around midfielder, never great. He'll be another addition to our strategy of never letting the other team have the ball.

But I wouldn't let Lucas go yet. And I would just as happily sign the guy Aston Villa will replace him with. So not the greatest endorsement. Just don't think its a tragedy.

Delph is pretty good, I don't quite get the hate. He has mobility which is what our midfield often lacks (besides Hendo). But I'm not sure why some newspapers say he could be a replacement for Lucas – Delph is not really a DM, is he? More like another body in midfield to compensate for the loss of Gerrard. I'm guessing we'll either get him or Milner.

From what little I've seen of William Carvalho, he looks like a big, lazy lump of shit. I hope United get him.
