Manchester United will appoint Jose Mourinho as their new manager, BBC Sport understands.
Mourinho has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in December.
With United failing to qualify for the Champions League under Louis van Gaal, the Old Trafford hierarchy are thought to have decided a change is required.
It is understood a deal with Mourinho was agreed in principle before Saturday's FA Cup final victory against Crystal Palace.

Title will be a two horse race then. City or Utd.
Whether you like him or not, give guy the kind of money Utd will and he will be right up there battling for a league he knows very very well. Yeh he had problems at Chelsea this season, but you simply can't deny his record when he's backed financially. Which he will be. And then some.
City have the better squad now and will no doubt strengthen, and although pep is great, he's new to the league.

I'm sure there will be plenty of brace faces being put on here over the next few weeks or so while the appointment is digested and overanalysed, but in my opinion, this is a great move for Utd and a bad one for their competitors.
Hope to fuck we back Klopp this summer. I know we won't get anywhere near the spend Utd will, but without Europe and with this seasons experience behind him, I'm sure Klopp will get us top four.

Don't call me brace face.

I was hoping the FA Cup victory would keep LVG in his job for another year. Shit news, but I suppose it's been inevitable for a while now.

I'm not sure this is going to be a marriage we need to worry about even in the short term.

When he went back to Chelsea I said that he'd need to be successful there or he'd be a busted flush and I think that's what he is now. No other top club would touch him and this smacks of desperation by the mancs.

He's not the draw for attracting players that he once was and with Pep in the same city I think the self destruct button may be pressed sooner than everyone's expecting.

Fingers crossed anyway.

Happy that they signed him. The players will soon not respect him at all. I wonder what Rashford will say when he is sent out on loan and a £50m+ player replaces him? More or less not a single youth team player will get a chance. That will destroy the morale in the squad a lot.

He will again build for short term success and when he is sacked then they will have a massive problem on their hands. He will again tell players to make it very difficult for his replacement. It will be total chaos.

Love it.

Didn't he write that begging letter to the scum saying he'd play attacking football and the youth players, and he'd "change"

You think Drogba will cost 50?

Drogba the spy. I wonder who he will sign up to be his spy this time? Who will report to him everything that happens in the dressing room when he isn't there? At Real he even hired a few private detectives so he knew what the players did 24/7.

Their supporters are utterly naffed off with the football which van Gaal (who was one of Mourinho's mentors) has had them playing. Their reaction's going to be interesting when they see more of the same, without even the excuse of blooding youngsters. This could deffo go either way.

I'd be fucking delighted right now if I was a United fan.

The manager most don't want leaves, with the parting gift of a trophy, and Mourinho comes in, who wins the title at every club he has ever been at - plus the European Cup twice and every single domestic trophy worth winning - and there will also be a gigantic amount of money for him to spend.

Couldn't really ask for more

And the fact that they get the biggest cunt out there to complement the 75 000 cunts that watch their every home game. Match made in heaven.

Hope it goes tits up and he continues the form Chelsea had this season.

Look at how utterly broken the cunt was just a few months ago, how shit the manure squad is, how their fans will be kicking off about his anti football from day one, how he'll start crying as soon as anyone mentions Bacon Face. A few bad results to kick off with and he'll be doomed.

Imagine allowing Mendes to announce Mourinho's arrival, almost at the same time that LVG was collecting the FA cup. What a classless shower!

It's just like how they sacked Moyes the instant that it became mathematically impossible for him to get them fourth, so they could avoid a performance payment. That club and its fans has harped on for years about how different they are and how they stand by their managers because they've had a bitter old cunt at the helm for decades, however now that he's left they've been shown to be just as bad, if not worse, than everyone else.
