Match week 38: Other games

Yes.. but in itself is a piss weak argument.

The guy has 3 years of experience.

This year he had before today 11 PL games.

Yes it's not as many as Taylor or Oliver. But he wasn't just promoted and in his second game or something.

Straws.

If I felt cheated out of 100 mill £ I’d probably do the same.
No need to blow his whistle that early.

No there wasn't.. its a £100m mistake. A normal human it would probably break them.

But refs are so abused, that only the psychopaths remain by the time they become professionals.

So no doubt he slept soundly last night.

Well done to the chavs two English teams winning in Europe is good for the coefficient I guess.

Chelsea the first team to do a (modern) European clean sweep

I'm sure they would have preferred to start with he conference league, mind; but all the same it's impressive

Is it though? The Conference League's only been in existence for 4 years, besides which it's a Mickey Mouse competition which the big teams aren't going to enter unless they had a poor season last time out.

The first team to do anything is always impressive. The fact they've done it in 7 years is a weird hybrid of impressive and hilarious.

If it was the other way round it would be hugely concerning

Amended for accuracy.

They've played Servette, Gent, Panathinaikos, Noah, Heidenheim, Astana, Shamrock Rovers, Copenhagen, Legia Warsaw, Djurgården and Betis.

Its about as impressive as winning the Johnstone's paint trophy with a billion £ squad.

If they didn't win it, it would be the most hilarious thing in the world, I agree. They shouldn't be hyping up this win as anything more than routine.

Still got to win it though, and being the only team to have the whole set is still an achievement, regardless of opinion. It's fact.

It’s somewhere between the carabao and the inter Toto cup. - they won earlier games with a b youth team no?

It seems pretty ridiculous even having clubs from the big European leagues in the Conference League. It should be reserved for the smaller countries. It'd be a worthwhile competition then.

It's not impressive, it's trivia. It is an atrocious competition, and merely participating in it is rightly understood to be a failure by any club who have European pedigree. Any club who don't have the trophy would want to win any other trophy before it.

Ultimately, they won the competition they could win. Just because we wouldn't want to be in it, doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy if we were the first to do it. It's a feat. To downplay it (for me), gains nothing

Is it as prestigious as winning any other trophy? Fuck no. But they've got that now and can (rightly) boast they've done it all

They can boast about whatever they want to, but there's never been a European tournament that weak, ever in history
