Milner over Moreno

From the Echo this morning... Klopp, when asked about any additional signings had this to say:

“If I had to guess I would say rather no, but I don’t know actually because it’s a long time until the 31st of August and I have no idea,” he told ESPN.

“We will see how the players react on my decisions again because we will have more players than 11 for sure, and then you have to accept a few decisions and you have to take it as an opportunity."

Anyone think this is related to Milner and his willingness to play full back? He played both sides last night, put in a number of wonderful crosses and is miles and miles better than Moreno, but would he be happy to play left back on a more or less permanent basis?

Read somewhere that Ragnar is also a competent Left Back. In fact he played there before LVG moved him to centre-back.

Maybe Milner can be a cover for fullback positions for example if Clyne is injured or needs a rest. But he definitely should not be starting LB. Neither should Moreno.

I think we need 2 more additions to the team, LB and DM. But replacing Moreno with a new first choice LB should be the absolute biggest priority. I'm surprised it wasn't one the first positions we addressed after getting a new GK.

If we don't get a better left back then it will come back to haunt us throughout the season. Any half decent opposition manager will try and exploit Moreno's tactical, technical and positional inadequacies.

My guess is that we're still looking but that Klopp's determined not just to get any old signing in there. We'll go for the right player if we find him, but will make do till January if we can't or if clubs try and bend us over for an inflated fee.

What a waste.

We should definitely be signing a new LB and Moreno should imo be sold. He's clearly too erratic...and stupid.

Klopp obviously wants a new left back or we would have kept Smith as back up.
Its a good thing that we're not just signing anyone but looking for the right player.

I don't know why we don't go to Southampton again?

Jerry L: Availability is the key though. Gomez isn't fully fit yet, let alone match fit, and Flanno's off on a season's loan to Burnley.

I think Klopp is playing it cute, we must have some other signings in the pipeline.... Hes probably waiting til nearer the end of the window to get a better deal on certain players perhaps?

Or maybe just waiting to be rid of Balotelli and Benteke prior to signing a LB and possibly and CM?

If we didn't sign a new LB this summer then i'd happily play Klavan there.

I think moreno is one of the worst lb's I've ever seen play at a top club....and definitely the least intelligent player ever.

Milner actually did very well when he came on against chelsea at RB and LB.

And the fact that Klopp actually tested him in that position makes me think we could see more of him there, especially now that it's unlikely he'll be in the starting XI in Midfield.
