Miscellaneous - liverpool thread

the Guardian‘s Ed Aarons, Keita has now claimed that Liverpool offered him a new contract.
Keita is now training with Bremen’s U23s squad having been exiled from the first-team setup amid question marks over the player’s professionalism.

That is something the 29-year-old refutes, but he is resolved to now leave the club – though offers from Sunderland and sides in Turkey were not to his liking.

Elsewhere in his interview, Keita admitted frustrations over his struggles for fitness while at Liverpool.

“I wanted to play every game but unfortunately I had a lot of injuries that prevented me from giving more than I did,” he stressed.

“But that’s the life of a footballer. I did everything I could to be there for the team at all times, but unfortunately injuries are part of our job.”
If its true we offered this weetabix for legs another contract, then the club is riddled with dumb fucks

Btw...if you're wondering what's going on with Ox:

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's career goes from bad to worse after leaving Liverpool

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain faces being left in the cold at Besiktas this season after being omitted from their Europa League squad.

The former Liverpool midfielder was told he was free to leave the Turkish giants this summer after being left behind for a pre-season training camp in Slovenia back in July. But Oxlade-Chamberlain's wages have proven problematic for suitors and discussions over the potential termination of his contract have so far failed to reach a positive conclusion.

Turkish sources claim Brentford and Bournemouth were among several clubs that would have considered signing the 31-year-old Englishman on a free transfer, had he become a free agent. But now Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has been eyeing a return to the Premier League after leaving Liverpool, is willing to fight for his place in Istanbul where his deal does not expire until the summer of 2026.

Earlier this week, Besiktas general secretary Kaan Saku provided an update on the player's situation during an interview with broadcaster TRT Spor, stating: “He was the first name to go. He thought he would find a club for himself. He gave us a price. He said, ‘If you pay, I will go.’ But he also gave up.”

Wasn’t it Klopp that wanted to extend Naby’s contract?

was there a PL reject who stormed the turkish league i don’t remember? what prompted this desire to sign every PL player on the steep downward slope?

All geniuses have their flaws, Klopp's was his signings.
The guy was rarely Impactful in games, the very few games he played he stood out maybe a couple times.
He has gone, and we're better for it. Shame, we didn't get a single penny

Bobby Firmino on Anfield:

"There's no place like home. And Anfield will always be home to me.
"There are football grounds and then there's Anfield. There are many fanatical, loyal, noisy sets of fans. Where there's football, there's passion. But I can tell you, at Anfield, things are different.
"Listen to my Brazilian friends, rivals from other clubs. They always told me how tough it is to play at Anfield! Tough for them; a blessing for us. In success and failure, at Anfield I always felt loved. I always had my special place and they never wanted me to leave it."

Was my favourite player while he was here.

Extremely intelligent and technically brilliant but I have a soft spot for players that seem to alway play the game with a smile on their face ala Bobby, Ronaldinho.

Him in Slobo's current position would have been a joy to watch.

Just walking the dogs in the park and there's this dude on Radio 5 said he asked mascherano how he learned English so quickly and Tevez didn't bother, and Masch said I grew up with the sound of cows braying in a field and Tevez grew up with the sound of gunshots day and night. What a great way to describe their situations.

Oh FFS. Officials vs Arsenal.

Madrid's Metropolitano Stadium and Baku's Olympic Stadium are in the running to host the 2026/27 Champions League final.
Fuck can I be arsed going to Baku to watch us win the 2027 Champion’s League. Guess I’ll just have to suck it up and do it.

It's but a gesture to Baku - we all know it'll be Madrid. Baku will be given the UEFA Conference final as compensation.
