Mo Salah 2025/26 Season

"Hate", jesus Christ. You're going to some lengths to make your leader definition clear because we're misconstruing your meaning, yet we're apparently haters. Ok.
So tell me where did I say he leader meant captain? You got it wrong clearly and trying to imply I said that. Go on, tell me where I said he was captain of anythig?? The original post was few days ago but I don’t remember implying he was that. Clearly Klopp didn’t feel so as Trenf wore the arm band in that game.

Just read some of the posts on here, it’s pretty hateful. The reason I defend him is not a fan of this mob mentality and revisionism. It’s pretty toxic. Thought we are better than that was my point but TBH, we deserve this now.

I wasn't one of them, but I don't really remember that being the general consensus either.

As soon as it became clear Diaz would no longer be around, fans did what fans do, convince themselves in anyway possible it'll all be fine and they'll be nothing to worry about, & how Gakpo was their preferred of the 2 all along. Diaz had always divided the fanbase, suggesting otherwise is irrefutable. The half that never rated him or valued what he brought were more than happy to see him go, are probably now wondering why we ever sold him in the first place.

"Gakpo's ceiling is higher"
"Gakpo has end product and doesn't run down blind alleys"
"Gakpo scores/assists more in less minutes"
"Gakpo is younger thus has more to give"

I've read it all on here, & this is before you get into KopRed's rant every other post, speaking of whom, happens to be hiding in a basement somewhere.

Mo’s done as a starter in a wide position, isn’t he?

We saw something similar happen to Mane. Sadio’s output improved when he was moved to the middle.

I think we need to do the same with Mo and see if we can build an attack around that. My preference would be to have Ekitike to the left and Wirtz to the right.

We've spent 200M+ on strikers in the summer so I don't think putting Mo in that position is tenable.

Yep, could have saved the Isak money and tried it. But I have no idea how you shoehorn all these players into the same side.

The only new acquisition who should be starting fully on merit is Ekitike, while Wirtz has shown enough to persist with.

Yes, but Ekitike is adapting to the league and sometimes looks great and sometimes just goes missing like against Brentford. Plus he was supposed to be flexible enough to play out wide.

Isak may not catch up with his fitness. Gravy never did last season.

Lastly, if our 200M+ strikers were playing like 200M+ strikers then sure, it’s not worth considering, but they’re not and we’re neck deep in it right now

It's probably been said in this thread, maybe even in this page, but the way Salah is being used tactically is baffling to me.

He's miles away from the goal all the time. That's on the coach. He's obviously at his best when he's in and around the area, finishing or playing through balls. He's spending the majority of the time these days with chalk on his boots getting marked by two men. He doesn't have the explosiveness or the agility to beat men anymore. Get him closer to the goal and his output and performances might improve. If I can see it, why can't the bald fraud.

It doesn't even make sense from a tactical standpoint with how we set up. It's not like either of our right backs maraud forward with incisive underlaps into the box. Frimpong and Bradley prefer to go along the outside and provide width... That should allow Salah to move centrally. But nope. Egghead has got them all isolated out wide with not much going on centrally. Bizarre.
