If you had to choose, would you rather Liverpool won a run of the mill Premiership match (for example against Blackburn on Sunday) or have your nation win a major tournament?

It's interesting to see how the view changes from region to region. I asked my Irish cousin this (who is a Manc) and he would rather Ireland won a major competition than Man Utd win every competition they're in.

Where are you from incidently? I don't disagree with you (about the feel good factor), but I couldn't give a flying fuck about England. I actually take pleasure in their defeats for some reason.

I used to be very passionate when I was younger, though the generation of "Ing-er-land" cockney cunts epitomised by John Terry somewhat tarnished my views. Bollocks to them now.

just never got round to changing the SG67 name though.

I used to be a pretty big England fan when I was a kid, like SG67, but for one reason or another I grew out of it.

Come on, a major tournament? Personally i watch the England matches and the atmospheres really cool in pubs etc but my preferred international team is Brazil who I always root for no matter who they play including England. But before I die I would like to see England win a major tournament.

Yeah, I don't know why. I just don't feel any affinity towards England. You might as well be asking me, who would I want to win the Asian cup thingy. I feel nothing towards them. I only cheer on our players... ie Gerrard, Crouch etc.

I'm supporting Spain this year, and I still would be had England qualified. Croatia are my back up team.

Yep. Just a normal Prem match versus either World Cup or European cup etc.

I'd still pick a normal match. I get great satisfaction out of the tiniest Liverpool victory. I couldn't give a shit about an England win, and the fucking media spewing their load over anything positive to do with England would do my fucking nut in. It would never end. They still go on about '66 for gods sake.

Me too, although I'm not convinced that Northern Ireland will ever get into a position that would make me choose.
