Other games thread April 12-13

Villa were great last night. I don't think PSG are the Brazil 1970 that we claimed they were when they skittled us; I think our approach to the games was the problem. They're still a good side of course but I think we lauded them a bit too much, probably out of disappointment at our own showing.

As I said in the Leicester thread……

Watching us in the last 5 against West Ham pissed me off because deep down the Klopp DNA is still there.

Being more sensible against Southampton at home means we would’ve beaten Newcastle and been the ones smashing Villa last night.

Still with a massive lead at the top of the league.

PSG are a very dangerous side but as we saw in our game and the game last night, they can be got at and against a good side in form, they could easily be dumped out.

The reason we got knocked out of the competition is not because PSG are amazing or because anyone can have a bad half / game or whatever... it's because we've been playing been well below par a long time now. We've been getting away with it domestically but that is less likely to happen in the CL.

City and Arsenal must fancy their chances this year. It's a weak competition.

City were knocked out by Real Madrid.

City were knocked out by Madrid in the play off round!!!

I'd say from this point (probably Madrid aside although I've learnt never to write them off), it's anyone's CL to lose. With the exception of PSG and Arsenal, they all have the experience and nous, time will tell whether either of those 2 can do what City did a few years ago and break that voodoo hanging over them.

Or alternatively all teams have good days and bad. We'll know which it was by the end of the season.

…and that would be fucking hilarious…especially after I read that Arteta is saying this could be the start of a period of Arsenal ‘dominating European competition’…
Oh what a fucking cunt

If arsenal lose this it's the end of arteta. There's a reason we all hate him and it's not because there's nothing about him.

I don't see if happening though. Real aren't strong enough defensively.

Nah their fans love him for the most part. He'll get another season, even if tonight is a catastrophe for them

I see him as a nearly man, who ended up shitting himself in the first year they challenged, then moved to a more defensive tactic. He reminds me of Rodgers.

I can see it being like when arsenal played city this year (the first time). Defensive masterclass until it's not. 3-3 agg

Rodger’s football is infinitely more attractive than Arteta ball.

Rodger’s was never backed to the tune of half a billion or more.
