And people think I'm being harsh when I call him a douche.Yeah the quote is from Sky coverage of the presser
We have no recall option, but Villa haven't met the terms of purchasing him. He's still our player technically, it's a cuntish attitude to have, especially given Elliott's situation. He's basically saying he's not our problem.I'm not sure I understand what's wrong with what he said there, do I need more context of the rest of the questions, or previous ones?
He was asked about Elliott's situation after Emery said he's not playing him because that would trigger the obligation to buy clause and they already decided against signing him permanently. It's not out of context either, that's literally everything he's had to say about itI'm not sure I understand what's wrong with what he said there, do I need more context of the rest of the questions, or previous ones?
It's especially hard to listen to if you think about how Klopp would respond.
It'd be along the lines of 'we fucked up and put one of our boys in a difficult position, we need to do whatever we can to help, despite not having a recall option.'
I'm not sure why you're repeatedly defending him, he's an obnoxious, cold fucking bore.
Slot on Harvey Elliott's situation: "No, I haven't had contact with him a lot. I think only once or twice and that was before he played Feyenoord away and after he played Feyenoord away, but that had more to do with that he played against a former club of mine. So no, I haven't been speaking to him.
And covers more ground than all but Szobo over 90 minutes.Well Wirtz on Sunday for a start. We're building a team around someone who plays for about an hour and gets subbed off, we change everything round twice and end up with Szob in goal. Elliot would be the perfect like for like.
Hughes could probably make it happen if he wanted to, but Slot would play him as much as Rio - at best.We have no recall option, but Villa haven't met the terms of purchasing him. I don't particularly like him as a person, but it is very hard to compare to Klopp. It seems to be that some people will attach whatever he does at the minute, as he's rubbed people up the wrong way, and some of it seems an over reaction to me. Maybe not in this case.
Harvey situation is a bit of a mess though, feels like there's more happening than we're aware of.

I must have missed his crappy attitude previously, see Quansah, Chiesa and so on. Did he have his hands tied in red tape then too?The thing is I think Harvey's situation can only be solved if Villa cancel his loan but when doing so they have to pay a fee for terminating it early. Given how reluctant they are its probably a fee higher than what his wages are for the rest of the season. Imho Slot can't say much else, but he could also, maybe, praise his qualities and boost his confidence.
The media department might have given him instructions to how he should answer those questions for all that we know given it could turn into a legal matter. I know that narrative won't suit the Slot bashing though, but its one thing wanting a new manager and another blaming him for all but the Maduro kidnapping. He's still our manager and I'm not particularly fond of this Arsenal/Utd attitude were we attack our own manager/club when we want to replace him or create changes.
Its not a good look and there is always some context. I want him replaced but until it happens he's part of the club.
He can't given Villa would have to pay a fee for terminating the loan.
Elliott can't be a like for like for Wirtz but if we sell Chiesa then he can take his squad role and probably expect the same or less minutes.

So he should come back for 5 minute cameos?
He should just ask for his release from Liverpool and go for a club that will play him.
He needs to look out for his career
I've always heard of Dutch directness and never seen it. Slots the first consistent dutch person I've paid attention to.I sometimes wonder if crappy attitude is mistaken for Dutch directness and bluntness. Doesn't really matter as he'll be gone in a few months.
Harv, excellent attitude notwithstanding, is not good enough.

Feels like "Dutch directness" is the same as "precocious" when it comes to describing a little kid who absolutely is a prick.
Not good enough for what?
Would I feel more confident against Arsenal tonight if Elliott was in the side? No, not really.
But we're failing to beat Leeds, Sunderland, Brentford and Palace. We're getting battered by Forest and PSV.
Elliott is clearly good enough to play a role in the Premier League, because he has done so.
For us?
Maybe he could come on the last 15 like Chiesa when the opposition is pinned back, but his lack of physical attributes is really limiting. If he only was quick, it would make a world of difference.
Absolutely. He is good enough to be a squad option for us, especially with the amount of games we should have if competing for trophies. He should have started more games last year when Slot was running the same 12 players ragged. He's probably not gonna be a star player for Liverpool, but he's good enough to play in the Premier League. We are playing in the Premier League, we are struggling to beat the average sides in the Premier League. I don't accept that Elliott wouldn't be able to make a positive difference for us as things stand.
So it's not a Dutch thing, it's a slots a prick thingVan Dijk is Dutch too and he always seems nice
