Some sort of pun about having a well known member

There's usually a thread on this?

Anyway, my two pennies worth...

Alisson - 6. Hard to rate as he didn't have a save to make. But 6 looks a bit shit, doesn't it? Nothing to do.

Trent - 8.5 Great goal, some lovely passing, untroubled in defence. Don't like giving .5s, but he needs that bonus of the goal to elevate him above...

Virgil - 8. Colossus. Untroubled. Literally could have played in his slippers and the outcome would have been the same.

Gomez -8. Same as above. Nothing got past him, won everything, nice passing. We definitely would've conceded a few chances had Lovren played.

Robertson - 7. Makes such a difference having him back in the side, no offence to Milner. Never stops running at full pelt. You'd never suspect he was recovering from a knock after 3 months off.

Fabinho - 9. I don't give out 10s unless someone scores 5 or something. That's the only reason he hasn't got one here. It was quite unfair on Palace actually to come up against someone in such form. A goal, an assist, winning everything in the middle and then barely misplacing a pass. There's nobody better in the world when he plays like this.

Wijnaldum - 6. Played well, but I'm knocking a point off because he should've had a hat trick. Can we get him to play with a Holland shirt under his Liverpool one?

Henderson - 7. Typical Hendo performance. All over the pitch, giving 100%, knocking volleys over the Annie Road stand. Good man.

Mane - 8. Probably our best player this season. Started well, then went a little bit quiet, otherwise his rating would've been higher. Some sublime touches, great passing and outrageous strength. Took his goal well.

Salah - 8.5. Breaking my own rule for the second time here. Goal and an assist. Some lovely footwork at times. Probably should've had another goal later on. Makes us a much better side in terms of balance when he's in the team.

Firmino - 7. Your typical Firmino performance. He's so integral to this system. But also typical of him was the fact he didn't score. But you can forego that with his work rate and link up play, as long as somebody else bags.

Subs

Williams - 7. Great cameo. How's he going to get a game long term, though? I'm not in favour of moving Trent further up field.

Elliott - 7. Could be a star, this lad. Shame he looks like a right bell, but we'll just forget about that...

Keita - 7. Another nice display. Neat and tidy while the game was done. He's lovely to watch on the ball.

Minamino - 6. Didn't really notice him do anything good or bad. Just a bit meh. Needs more time to gel with the team.

Ox - 6. Same as above. Didn't really notice him.

Overall team rating - 10. Yeah, I know this doesn't really make sense given you could argue I've been a little stingey with my individual marks, but that was a complete team performance. Can't fault it in anyway, really.

Ha, you a believer yet?

I could understand some fear if we didn’t have Villa, Brighton and Burnley post City.

I want it done next game so we use the last games as pre season go retain the title.

No. There's still some sort of bump in the road. I'm still half-expecting a second spike and a null and void.

Either that or we lose every game and City win all of theirs.

The fuck-up is not in our hands anymore.

Chelsea will push us over the line.

Rewatched the game with great pleasure. I'm surprised so few posters here are subscribed to LFCTV – it's really good value for money and the commentary is way better and more knowledgeable than any publicly-available TV channel.

Anyway, in the absence of Brendan, some RAAAAtings:

Alisson 6 – worst player on the pitch, didn't do anything! Maybe they should bring Karius back for games like this.
Trent 7 – outstanding free-kick and a better performance than last game, but still not quite at his best
Gomez 7.5 – had to contest Ayew for every ball since the Palace striker didn't want to get close to Van Dijk. Won almost all of them, except for one slight mistake which led to the Max Meyer shot.
Van Dijk 7.5 – I see someone's been practicing long-range passing during the break! It's scary when the best defender in the world keeps improving.
Robertson 7 – busy and positive as usual. Like Trent, still has some ways to go before he truly hits peak form.
Fabinho 10 – tackling like Mascherano, passing like Alonso, scoring like Gerrard – that's some combination! Returned from the break in scorching-hot form. What a player!
Henderson 7.5 – played with more freedom than last time out, popping up on wide on the right one moment and next to Gomez and Van Dijk the next. Good understanding with Fabinho and Gini about when to sit and when to attack, controlled the tempo and the flow of the game. Unlucky his shot hit the post.
Wijnaldum 7.5 – the one player who stood out more for more upon rewatching. I think criticizing him for not converting any of his 3 chances is a bit unfair – 2nd one in particular he already did outstandingly well to get a clean strike given that Sadio blasted the ball at him from a short distance and he had to react in a millisecond. It's a really good sign when a midfield player constantly finds himself in goal-scoring positions and on the rewatch there were further 2-3 episodes when he freed himself in the box, but a teammate failed to deliver the pass. Together with his typically reliable midfield work, this is a really, really valuable combination.
Mane 8 – oozes class in everything he does; it's a treat to watch him play.
Firmino 7 – first touch and link up play were miles better than in the previous game; really did everything he had to do well, just wasn't as noticeable because Palace crowded central areas, so his role was mostly to support Mane and Salah rather than threaten directly.
Salah 7.5 – seemed rusty at first and a bad miss from the long-range chip, but the goal returned him back to life, like they tend to do for natural-born strikers. Excellent 2nd half and assist.

SUBS (no numbers, because the game was done at that point):
Ox – very lively and eager to prove he deserves playing time.
Williams – exciting attacking talent
Minamino – still searching for himself, unlucky not to have a tap-in
Keita – tried to play as many passes per minute as possible from the looks of it
Elliott – lively and unfazed by the occasion, as always

Klopp 10 – surely Palace would have been a tougher nut to crack had Zaha not had to go off, but you can only play who is in front of you and this was one of the most dominant performances of the season. You're doing something right when a decently-organized team defends deep with a bank of 5 in front of a bank of 4 and it doesn't hinder your ability to create chances at all. And it's testament to Klopp's work to see the attitude and competition throughout the squad, so that even at 4:0 up, with kids of the pitch and no crowd, there was absolutely no drop in intensity until the referee's whistle. Absolutely brilliant!

I really hope City beat Chelsea. I don't want to watch that game, but I also don't want to miss the moment we secure the title.

We never needed to get into second gear even.
Utterly dominant performance.
The Owl even helped us by benching the decent Dann, playing Sahko instead.
There went any hope of a decent defensive performance from them.

Palace were done once Zaha left the field, they had no outlet and fell deeper and deeper nd just became more desperate. We were moving through the gears, pushing players forward because we knew they couldnt hurt us. We could have scored two or three more.

Hopefully the likes of Minamino, Keita, Ox etc who played the last day now understand what the standard is. Everybody in the team has to put in a shift, there are no passengers in this side.

Apparently last night was the first Premier League game for 12 years in which no player from one team touched the ball in the other teams penalty area!

And apparently it's 12 years because they only started collecting this type of data 12 years ago. It could very well be the first in history.

It’s a great channel. Where is Brendan? Is his ban permanent? What for?

First time since Opta stats recorded these kind of stats. Could be even longer.

Not since Gerrard left have we had a genuine threat from afar. Hennessy had full view of the action, yet was still beaten. Now if'n we could get somebody to be able to hit the ball on the run and under pressure (Henderson and Wijnaldum lack the confidence or technique to do that) ... Or would that be too greedy?

The key, unlike against Everton, was the speed with which Liverpool moved the ball (watch the 4th goal!). This meant Palace never had a chance to settle into its defensive shape (unlike Everton.) When Liverpool plays like that, it becomes obvious why it's 20+ points ahead of a second-placed team. More of that, please.

Thanks to the lockdown, I watched almost every other game since the restart, including our derby with Everton.

This was on another level.

At the first glance, I thought this is a warm-up friendly for the main clash between us and City. Can see the difference in class, something I've not seen in this league for a mighty long time. You do get the occasional rolling over and die teams in the league when they faced Ferguson or Sheikh, but usually lift themselves up to stop us from playing. We were just too good to let them do that.

That Salah's goal. You could see Salah was already committed in that run behind Palace defence as soon as Fabinho had that little burst to get away from Ayew. Such a perfectly weighted pass and how good is Salah. I really hates it when our own fans keep talking about selling Salah to get Mbappe or some other young striker because he's "selfish", or one trick pony and shit like that. He's been our main scoring threat, he also creates for his teammates and making a lot of unselfish runs. Our front 3 ball control is way up there with the best, their interchange of passes and the speed, immense. You could see that these are the boys that has been playing with each other for a very long time, and all playing for each other sharing the same hunger. This are all Klopp's doing.

Nobody roll over a die for us, not like Ferguson's time when he had already won the match before the ball was kicked. We worked for ours, and Klopp said it best when he said at 80th minute with 4 goals up, our boys are still chasing down the ball like we needed another one.

Klopp: "I cannot remember a 4-0 after 80 minutes, and four players chasing a ball like it's the only ball left on this planet. This is us."
