Pepe as our second choice keeper?

Just remembered when he put a goal kick out for a corner as well.

He's been fucking log at Besiktas as well. Stay. Away.

Haha! I forgot that!

Yeah he's shit. Depressingly, we have had a lot worse, but possibly not as first choice.

We won't be keeping him for long though, surely? He might think he is gonna stay and fight for his place or whatever, but as soon as we get another loan offer for him and tell him he is welcome to go then he's bound to be on his way.

Karius couldn't cut in a minor league. The guys a lost cause. Loan/sell him to Bournemouth and get Sam (aka Asmir Bergovic) instead.

Besides the obvious, I recall Karius costing us in that 4-3 loss against Bournemouth, and nearly flapping one in against Roma.

Adrian has cost us a few goals, true, but he has made some great saves and rescued us on a few occasions.

I can't really ever recall Karius making any good saves. He never really made those saves you wouldn't expect an average keeper to make, as well as letting in some absolute howlers.

Let's not forget what he did to our backline. They rightly shat themselves whenever he was behind them. He's a fucking liability. I'd throw Achterberg and Lonergan between the sticks before that hipster, Instagram tart.
I started out with the view that they were both shit but that Karius was slightly better than Adrian in his distribution of the ball, which is important to how we play.
Yet somehow it almost appears that I am defending Karius. Which was never the intention.
All I wanted to do was be derogatory of Adrain and underline how much I want him replaced

Get rid and don't get begovic. He's on loan at AC Milan anyway and more than likely to stay
Tell me a good keeper who would be happy to be a number 2? If we could get Tom Heaton, I would be over the moon, and that's not gonna happen. So tell me decent keeper who would fetch less than £5m would be happy to play second fiddle

We've just signed another goalkeeper, granted he's only 17 and he's another Pole. Haven't we now got 3 Polish keepers on our books? It's Rafa's back, we're collecting keepers

Haha no I know. As dodgy as Adrian is, he's nothing compared to Karius.

You see that's where we differ.
I am not convinced he isn't and that is not meant as a compliment to Karius but a reflection on the little faith I have in Adrian

Adrian is better than karius. Karius is absolutely shit and too much of the support knows it.

Yes, a new keeper will likewise probably be shit, but whether it's an up and comer or a veteran, I'd rather spin the wheel of shit than order shit off the menu.

I think we are all in agreement that Adrian needs replacing by someone better than Reina.

Has Reina become totally shit or something? I haven't followed his career at all since he left, and obviously he's kinda fat and unathletic now, but he was always a very good handler and very comfortable with the ball at his feet. I would assume he still has those qualities, and would acquit himself reasonably as a no. 2.

You must have missed him being totally shit for us for two years as well then.

Reina had obviously declined by the time he left (apart from falling out with Rodgers), but saying that he was some utterly useless keeper by that stage is a bit strange.

I'd actually have preferred to stick with Reina compared to what we got over the next few years in Mignolet and Karius.

He moved on and and remained a starter at a very solid Napoli team for several years under Rafa / Sarri.

There's a strange dislike for him on here, but I remember him reasonably fondly. Played almost 400 games for us, and was a very good keeper for the most part.

I’d have preferred he stayed over those two clowns, but by the time he left he really didn’t want to be here and his performances did drop. Of that there’s no doubt.

I wish the king of HT talks, @dmishra ... fond memories of Reina ... he was a good keeper, and should have won the league ... ok, he flirted with other clubs - but that happens.

Anything on target and with some power would fly past Reina as if he wasn't there by that stage. They were the type of shots that Ming or even Karius would save.

Maybe he get fitter at Napoli, but that's more reason to not want him back. He was one of the highest earners at the club and should have never let himself go like that.
