So with the new season only a day away who are the players you think will suprise people and be a big hit this season?

Last year we had Michu, Sterling (outside of Liverpool at least) Lambert, Benteke among others.

Who will stand out this year?

There is alot of talk from Cardiff fans that Kim Bo-Kyung will have a massive season.

I've also got a few American friends who think Jozy Altidore will hit the gorund running after a couple of hat tricks in USA qualiers recently.

Bony looks like he could be a big hit from pre season and I think Ibe will have a bigger impact than Sterling last season.

I've also read that Deulofeu at Everton will cause a big splash under Martinez

Which unknown players do you think will be on everyones lips (and fantasy football team) before to long?

Could be a fun thread to look back on at seasons end.

(Somewhat) Bold Predictions:

  • Bony and Altidore will each bag 15+ goals if they avoid major injury
  • Deulofeu will be underwhelming at Everton
  • Soldado will be average due to injury trouble. I say 15 goals. Decent tally, not worth the price paid
  • Capoue will be a decent player for Spurs, Paulinho will be excellent
  • If Levy doesn't sell Bale, he will regret it.
  • Navas is going to be a fantastic addition to City
  • Negredo and Jovetic will easily make up for production lost in Balotelli and Tevez.
  • Kolo Toure will be a top 5 central defender this season, if he can stay healthy
  • Ricky van Wolfswinkel has an impressive season, with 15+ goals

Toure is a bold prediction

Oscar and Coutinho could both make big jumps this season.

I'm interested to see how good Jovetic is, I think he'll be city's best signing - I'm not sure Negredo and Navas will fare all that well.

Nathan Redmond seems to be highly rated, and I'm sure he'll get chances at Norwich.

I'm not overawed by Navas, I've never really been that blown away with him. So he'll probably be brilliant.

As much as I love Coutinho, I think Oscar will win young player of the season.

1. Negredo will be a goal machine for City and could be leading the Prem goal chart come May
2. Cornelius to become this Seasons Michu, big, strong, pacy lad with good skills too and one only few have heard off.
3. Giaccherini to be one of the signings of the season and actually make Sunderland mildly watchable again
4. Oscar to get his big break through this Season
5. Aston Villa to either crash or burn or become this Seasons Swansea/Southampton (both teams I actually expect to do well again) - with Benteke carrying on his form from last Season
6. Swansea to break into the top 6, perhaps even top 5
7. Spurs, Arsenal, United, Everton and ourselves will be extremely vulnerable, as in a bad Season start and each of them (including us) will struggle to make Europe next Season.
8. Newcastle to sign a French player come January
8. And finally, United will struggle to win a game. Again. Ever.

At risk of being yelled at by @LeTallecWiz for being a homer, I do think Jozy Altidore is poised for a good season with Sunderland. He was fourth in the Eredivisie last season with 23 goals and after a unbelievable summer with the national team he is in the best form of his career. He has scored in 5 consecutive games with the USMNT which is a record streak and his confidence is sky high after a hat trick against Bosnia-Herzegovina this week.

Let's all back Bony for first goal against united and hope Reliant Robin has an off day.

I think Shelvey will be great if giving a run of games to get the confidence up.

Downing to get a new lease of life at West Ham, pressure if off him again to produce. He'll do fine.

Norwich has a nice left back in Olsen. The Sweedish guy. He always seemed a good player. Amorbietta (sp?) used to be a classy defender back in La Liga. Is he still any good?

Will we see Kevin Du Bryune in action for Chelsea? Mata, Oscar, and Hazard is amazing attacking three behind Lakaku who scored 4 in pre season. Their new Drogba!!

All of Fer for Norwich, Capoue for Spurs and Wanyama for Southhampton will be fucking boss and were cheap as well.
They'll also make us cry every week as they are exactly what we need in our midfield.

Regarding Ross Barkley a few years ago:

The next big thing IMO.
Anyone of you locals have any info on him?
Closet red maybe?

Just watched the highlights from the Everton-QPR game, he's a scouse Wilshire. A miniature Gerrard.
We should do whatever we can to get this lad.
Yes, I'm basing this on one game.

Jozy Altidore -I'd be shocked if we amounted to anything this season. Very very average player. Pure Team USA wishful thinking all the way

Have to agree, I'm afraid. Good athlete, but you need more in your locker than that to be a successful Prem striker.

Ross Barkley - Everton

I hate the bitter bastards but damn this lad can play, he's going to be something special in the Gerrard Lampard bracket. Yes he's that good!
