Which of the newcomers will make the biggest impact, both this season and overall in their LFC career?

My vote is for Joel, but I think Loris and Gini will be big players for us too.

I voted for Mane, but feel positive about all. A more interesting question might be: "who is most likely to fail?"

I went for Ragnar. I almost certainly won't be proved right. I smell a Sami Hyppia though. 🙂

Oh fuck is dreamy in? Ok I'll roll with it. #knucks

Surprised so many are picking Ragnar, is it partly because his name sounds so cool? He'll probably be a good squad player, but surely Matip has a lot more potential to be a big player for us. Same for Wijnaldum, one of the most talented players out of Holland in recent years.

I have no idea, I'm basing that purely on his performance yesterday. Never seen Matip play at all, while I've only watched Wijnaldum against us, which obviously doesn't count.

Matip is the safe bet.

For me it's will be Wijnaldum, though. I love a goal-scoring midfielder and I think he could become one of the best under Klopp. I wouldn't be surprised if he bettered Coutinho's goal scoring stats this year.

Not sure if 5-vote lead for Karius is confidence in his ability or utter despair in Mignolet 🙂

Despair in Mignolet. I could tolerate another season of Moreno's idiocy if need be. But I've had enough of wee Simon.

Probably because it will (could) be the signing that has the largest impact on our performances ? 😀

I, like many I suspect, would give our transfer work so far this Summer a pretty good rating (maybe 7.5/10 so far, could go to 8.5 or 9/10 with a good LB inbound and getting rid of all the excess) and Matip, Mane, Ragnar and Wijnaldum could all make instant impacts (I suspect that's a season too early for Grujic) but Karius looks key to a sounder defence and to speeding up distribution and so overall team performance.

I went for Grujic (provided he's over that knock on the head) because of the combo of assurance and commitment I've seen from him so far. I'm optimistic about all of them, though, because there seems to be a coherent plan behind the signings and because I like the collective spirit which seems to be emerging.

Wow, only me and Modo seem to like Matip.

(I probably should delete this post before all hell breaks loose)

Ha, I've gone for Matip too! Hopefully a good LB does come in, then the defence will be in much better shape than last year - but Matip is the key at the back for me.

JJ: Completely agree about the coherent plan, it's refreshing to see Liverpool buying players for the style of play and areas needed rather than stockpiling and trying to shoe-horn them in. I'm hopeful that if we are lucky enough to be successful under Klopp and he stays for the length of his contract, we may actually see an identity for the club's style of play emerge out of this that Liverpool can continue on with - that has been missing for a while in my opinion.

BTW wasn't Mane's fee £30m rising to 34m with add-ons ? Isn't £34m the 'Sky' version ?

Potential Can O' Worms - but does it really matter? If he does well the fee will be £34m sure, but regardless he'll have cost the club more than that with £30m/£34m plus wages over the course of his contract anyway.

If you want to look at the projected cost to the club for any player, then surely it has to be fee + wages + potential add-ons/player bonuses = total cost - it's what the club will be budgeting to pay anyway. We can never know the full sum of the outlay until the player is off the books, so arguing for £xm reported by one media outlet vs £xm reported by another feels a bit like splitting hairs.

Yes but we use those split hairs to debate on this and other forums 😉
