Pre Match Pre match - Arsenal (H) Sun 16:30

I'm not saying I want him to play, I just wouldn't be surprised if he does. I'm sure the club will have the correct conversations with him anyway.

I think he'll be on the bench. Anything else will raise to many questions and be a distraction.

It's funny to think that this game is all they have to play for now. They'll limp across the line in a CL place, their only hope of taking anything out of the season will be to beat us and then pretend that we were up for it, when we'll obviously not be arsed.

Well there is the idea of playing Trent and half hoping someone goes in hard on him and snaps his knee or something that puts him out of the game for a year.

If we approach this like the last game we will get mullered.

Now that nothing matters you are going to see the best version of arsenal from the whole season. They had us when we played them and then due to their managers crippling risk management they let us have the ball.

He sent a similar message by signalling to his team that they needed to secure cl in the four games they had left in the prem, rather than the two games they had left in the champions league.

He's a bullish loser.

Arsenal will be broken after yesterdays defeat. Will be a weird setting for the game this weekend and it all starts with them giving us a guard of honour.

I just hope Slot doesnt rotate to much and that the players are up for it. Anfield will be buzzing.

We should field the academy side, just as a show of disdain to how meaningless this game is to us.....then go full strength in the last 2.

Be nice for the kids to get a well deserved guard of honour too. Fuck Arsenal.

Fuck starting Trent.
Fuck bringing him on.
Fuck having on the bench,

The cunts vice captain and wants to be released early so he can go win the Club World Cup again.
I'm happy for him to head off and try something different.I'd take whatever money we can get, we owe nothing and he owes nothing.

Trent shouldn't play for us again, he should just call in sick or something, no one cares. We will celebrate without him.

I'll be irritated if Slot sends out anything other than our best team. We need to smash these guys.

I'm not overly arsed about the performance, but it's important for me to not lose.

Arsenals last PL victory at Anfield was in 2012. I do think that's something psychologically important about maintaining that, especially given how fragile their club is. It's the sort of thing that gets in their heads.

Yeah I wasn't arsed about Chelsea and didn't even watch it. However this is a rivalry, and like or not they will be along with us next season. We should both expect to have a head start on City & Chelsea if both are out trying to win the club world cup.

Let's make them miserable, let's make the gulf look & feel huge. Relentless performance like the one against Spurs.

I really don’t think they will be up there next season. This crop are done. Bottlers.

Slot confirmed Bradley will start, because he needs games to be ready for next season. Said he's spoken to Trent on Whatsapp, and will see how he feels before deciding if he plays a part on Sunday. He doesn't want a negative reception for Trent, he wants all the energy to be put into supporting the players who are staying here. Said he can't tell people how to feel and that Trent will probably have more negative things said about him than he is used to. Was fairly blunt and honest about it all, he said he can't say if he will play in the WCW because Trent hasn't said where he is going, then smiled and said "even though we all know where he is going".

Said he's disappointed Trent is going, but from experience of the club, a player leaves and another steps up to replace him.

Time to bed in Bradley as Slot’s first choice

Trent Alexander-Arnold announced he was leaving Liverpool with three matches of the season remaining to avoid accusations of sneaking through the back door when his long-anticipated move to Real Madrid is finally confirmed. A courageous step, although one that makes the final weeks of the boyhood fan’s Liverpool career more awkward than they would have been otherwise. Anfield will deliver its first response to the news against Arsenal, who require a reaction of their own to Champions League misery in Paris with second place in the Premier League far from secure. While there may be anger in the stands at losing Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer, Arne Slot’s treatment of the full-back will be more cold-eyed. Slot has known of Alexander-Arnold’s intentions since late March but has started the defender in Liverpool’s last two games. Now his exit is confirmed, however, it is time to think only of the future and start Conor Bradley, providing the Northern Ireland international is fit. Andy Hunter

Key quotes from Arne's pre Arsenal game presser:

Arne Slot on Trent Alexander-Arnold's decision to leave:
“Like everybody who likes Liverpool, I am disappointed. A good human being and very, very, very good full back is leaving us. I worked at clubs like AZ and Feyenoord where good players leave every season."

Arne Slot on right-back selection going forward:
“If Conor would have been available for Chelsea, he would have started against Chelsea."

Arne Slot on Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving before the Club World Cup
“He hasn't said anything about it (where he is going), he only said he is leaving the club. That's impossible for me to count on.”

Slot on Bradley:
“Let's not compare him with Trent, they're two different types. Very talented player Conor, unfortunately he hasn't been fit at times this season but we have a lot of confidence in him."

Slot on Bradley:
“Conor will start on Sunday because he needs more games under his belt to prepare for next season."

Slot on using squad players Vs Arsenal:
“There are a lot of influences on my decisions, one is losing a game of football (Chelsea). We will wait and see how we play on Sunday but I already said Conor is gonna start.”

Slot on the reception Trent will get on Sunday:
“I'm not here to tell the fans how they should react. I will see Trent in a bit and I will wait and see how he feels about [it]. I'm hoping that all the energy on Sunday goes to our players."

Arne Slot :
“We don't talk about contracts, we don't talk about whether we want to improve the team in different areas. It's not easy to find better players than what we already have."

Arne Slot on transfers:
“It's not easy to find players better than we already have. If they are there they need to be affordable and want to come to our club. The last thing is not a problem by the way, but sometimes transfer fees are.”

Arne Slot on Jarell Quansah:
“The last step he has to make is not to be involved in mistakes. He has all the qualities to play for this club. The biggest part of us winning the league is consistency, it is difficult for a young player to get that."

Arne Slot asked if players moving on free transfers will become a trend:
“It happens mostly with a certain club. You do not see it much with other big clubs. It could be a Trent... trend."

So Paul Tierney despite turning a blind eye to the clearest red card I've seen this season, he still gets to referee our games?

I don't think so

Arteta is the exact type to see this as a "revenge" fixture, and that the previous 36 games didn't matter and THIS is the winner takes all, title on the line match.

He's the cunt in school who's getting tonked 7-0 in heads and volleys, breaks about to end and they go "next goal wins"; then proceeds to do the snideiest, most dodgy goal, and screams about it for weeks and shushes everyone on the pitch

I don't think so. The mental drainage will be to big for the players with that short a turnaround.

I can see them beating us and then losing to Newcastle and Southampton

They hype and get excited for the wrong games consistently. To put that performance in against Madrid and then go out meekly to psg is Arsenal. To beat city 5-1, have MLS copy haalands celebration & play "humble" over the speakers, then go on an awful run in the league. It's almost like they need "moments" like other clubs have, but forget they need to fucking win a trophy for it to matter. I've heard arsenal fans say that Madrid game was the best night they've had as a fan. It's pathetic.

They're emotionally immature and always trying to find someone to blame for their failings. There's a petulance there that is insidious

Arteta was talking about xG and that it proved they were the best team in the semis and also the best team in the competition. No wonder their fans are unbearable when their manager isn't connected to the rest of the World.
