Main question for me is whether Gravy & Macca can do this and city.

However I’d start both (and Robbo) but plan for triple sub on 60 because city is must win.

No other changes from me but i wouldn’t be against seeing Wirtz false 9 over Ekitike.

I think I would play Jones over Macca, based on form of both and Macca just played two in a row.

I thought Macca was okay last night and most importantly not a liability like he has been. Jones has done well in recent games and I am not his biggest fan.

I'm a big fan of us playing last year's team until we get a bit of form and our new players are seriously knocking on the door, I think that's how we should have started the season, but maybe we're there now.

But, I think Europe is different, Wirtz should play, not sure if Isak is ready, but I'd play him too if he is. I could see Kerkez playing, more out of necessity than anything, but would keep the same team outside of that.

And then we go back to yesterdays team for the next league game.

Big thing here is we can't play the same team vs Villa, Real & City. There just isn't enough recovery time.

My 100% pref would be to stick with the Villa team as above but what then vs City?

There has to be some rotation. If Jones is ok-ish. I'd get him on late in the game vs Real and have him start City. Robbo isn't doing three back to back so where do we take the pain of an uncertain Kerkez? Finally Cheesy and Wirtz HAVE to be involved. I'd have Wirtz replacing Gakkers mid week and I've have Cheesy with significant minutes (on at 60-ish) in both

I would start the same again with the exception of starting Wirtz for Gakpo. 3 tough games in a week and and I'd probably favour Gakpo starting in the PL. Whatever Slot decides, he's going to need to turn to the bench as soon as he can. Hopefully Jones and Isak can play a part by the end of the week.

No we cannot - I think that has been the problem for us - it is obvious. When Wirtz came on yesterday the problem was clear to see, you cannot have two players being free to do fuck all, but I am glad that he replaced Ekitike with Wirtz and not one of our other 3 midfielders.

I'm off to the mother-in-law's tomorrow morning (just under 4 hrs on the high speed rail - so the usual 320kph with the glass of water not spilling a drop). That means I'll be kipping on the settee until the match starts and then going to bed just as my MiL and wife are waking up (early risers in China).

As has been said - we can't play the same team vs. RM & City. But there is almost a 5 days rest between RM and City so not as bad as it could be.

RM don't always control games, City do. We'll need the team that started yesterday vs. City as they'll need to press hard all game.

I do feel European style suits wirtz, and I think he'll get more space against them then against city

I'd drop Macca for wirtz. Don't want to burn him out if we can help it, and try and keep him fit for the weekend
