Pre Match Pre Match - Palace - (Anfield South) - Sunday - 15:00

At this point, I think our transfers are all about depth and more rotation. I include Isak in this equation. Of course, he will be first choice, but we would be wise to manage his minutes.

Nice that we will be able to manage minutes of key players without any drop off.

Very refreshing to see us not look to find Salah with every ball and to create so much without him being involved much at all so far.

He’s still getting double marked but we have threat everywhere now it’s gonna make fuck all difference.
Agree. And the more dangerous we look elsewhere, the more space he will get.

Interesting game.

But we are far too open at the back. If we are gonna play like this we need a Kanté in midfield to have a chance.

its guaranteed macallister plays well with wirtz
He will actually find Wirtz early and in pockets of space.

Still think our best midfield will be Wirtz, Macca and Gravy.

I love Szobo's energy and form, but I'd consider putting him on the LW (his old Leipzig position) and let him combine with his Hungarian brother at LB.

Impressed so far. Shaky at the back occasionally but looking tasty going forward. Put gravy and mac in and that’s gonna take some beating

Frimmy needs to time his support runs better. And improve his starting positions. At times he's stepping on Salah's toes. Too close.

Same thing for Kerkez on the other side. He's actually a bit far from Gakpo because of our lopsided right wing attack, but when he supports Gakpo, he needs to time his burst forward better.

Feel like the forwards aren't quite clicking - lots of nice approach play, particularly from Wirtz, but even though we've scored two goals it's all fart and no poo. Just need more time playing together I suppose.
But as and when they do click, we are going to do serious damage to our opponents.

Great first half but far too easy to get in behind Kerkez that half.

Subs please Slot.

Salah goal or assist and my 10/1 bet comes in nicely.

Good first half. Biggest adjustment we have to make halftime is the Kerkez/Gakpo set up defensively. Sarr drags Kerkez central and Munoz bombs down the their right. Difficult one for us given the formation Palace are playing.

Wirtz and Ekitike - WOW

For years of being dogshit down our right, now it’s our left that looks out of sorts. Where is Kerkez supposed to be playing because it’s always Gakpo at LB

Salah may aswell not be on the pitch.

Eh? They seem incredibly on the same wavelength against a low hanging defence.
I thought our front 3 plus Dom and our full backs have been superb in terms of clicking instantly.

Yep, it's super encouraging that we are looking this dangerous despite not being 100% in sync yet, it's exciting tbh, Ekitike is already showing how much better our attack is with some simple link up, and Wirtz seems to be the master of deft touches into other players paths, the potential it beautiful.

I think Szobo is going to be first choice over Macca for certain games, and Macca will replace Gravy for certain games. And, imagine the impact of bringing in either of them after 60 minutes, when needed.

You guys are ignoring how we play.

Kerkez is getting dragged inside because

1) Our lopsided formation where Salah does almost 0 defending, therefore the entire team shifts to the right to make up for it.
2) Palace are playing a wing back formation, therefore, when they drag us to the right, it's Gakpo's responsibility to deal with Munoz.

It's either we ask Salah to expend energy to defend more. Or we take the chance of Gakpo tracking Munoz. You can't have it all.

Moreover, when we attack, we're lopsided too with a right hand bias. We go into a back 3 and Frimmy pushes up.

You mean all hot air no substance?

Salah and gakpo aren't on the same wavelength as wirtz, Ekitike and szob. Even the full backs are more involved

And, we are lacking Gravy covering way more ground than Jones. We also miss Macca who is more familiar with our left side role than Szobo (who is playing great going forward) and Macca is also a brilliant reader of the game.
