Pre Match Pre Match - Palace - (Anfield South) - Sunday - 15:00

Just a quick check on AFCON again and it's from 21st Dec 2025 – 18th Jan 2026 and don't they have to be there 2 weeks before it starts?

Luckily (or by design) we only lose Mo., though Egypt could potentially get to the final (they are 2nd favs at 6/1 behind strong favourites Morocco), so we will potentially lose him for the whole tournament.

These are the PL games - I don't know where the LC, CL or FAC games slot in. Happily we are only playing one Top 6 team (Arsenal away) during that time.

December

  • Wednesday 3rd (8pm) – Sunderland (H)
  • Saturday 6th (3pm) – Leeds United (A)
  • Saturday 13th (3pm) – Brighton & Hove Albion (H)
  • Saturday 20th (3pm) – Tottenham Hotspur (A)
  • Saturday 27th (3pm) – Wolverhampton Wanderers (H)
  • Tuesday 30th (8pm) – Leeds United (H)

January

  • Saturday 3rd (3pm) – Fulham (A)
  • Wednesday 7th (8pm) – Arsenal (A)
  • Saturday 17th (3pm) – Burnley (H)
  • Saturday 24th (3pm) – Bournemouth (A)
Salah will probably leave a week before the tournament starts. Not sure how far Egypt will go, but Morocco has to win it.

I'm sorry about how things have gone with Chiesa. His attitude has been exemplary from day one, he's shown some good touches when he's had game time and initially I had hopes that he might lay the ghosts of our past Italian signings to rest. All that said, Slot's ruthlessness (which I like) doesn't seem to allow any further leeway in this case and I hope the lad can find a new club which will give him a chance to reestablish himself.
I doubt he’s been exemplary in training and fitness to get to a place where he could play.

"Has to", meaning that they're easily the best and they'll walk it? Or that they're under huge pressure to win it? Or what?

Its matchday and we are barely on page 2. Easy to see that few people care about this. I'm looking forward to it - it is a statement of intent and a chance to play a very good team. Palace ended last season very well and haven't lost anyone, yet.

Two strong attacks against two inconsistent defences. LFG.

Staying with something like 4-1, 5-1, 5-0.

Palace have lost some good players whilst our last performance had some exquisite moments of interplay with a xG of 4-1. We conceded one horrible deflection and one cracker whilst missing some great chances, both of those situations will improve with familiarity and VvD back into a full strength team (bar Gravy but we have excellent cover).

Guehi and Eze will both want to put on a show to demonstrate they are worth the money.

It’s still a friendly.

On TNT for those in the UK.

It's been so long that a part of me expects an entertaining 5-2 type madness with a couple of worldies from both sides so I'm preparing to be disappointed by a shit and scrappy pre-season game

We could be playing Altrincham and you'd see us losing! On what basis do you see a weakened Palace beating a strengthened Liverpool?!

Odds are 2/7 on us winning BTW.
Glasson is a great tactician, he’s got the better of stronger teams on paper countless times and gave us a great game at the end of the season.

Of course we are favourites, that doesn’t mean much in this fixture.

And Slot isn't?!

Nobody should 'see Palace winning' nobody. That doesn't mean they can't but there is something wrong with anyone who sees Palace winning rather than them winning being a mighty upset.

It'll be a good game. Watching Wirz, Ngumoha and two flying fullbacks is just fun.

I'm watching it in town and then reliving some Britpop seeing Ocean Colour Scene/Cast straight after.

Tbf I can see palace winning as well.

We might not be full strength, we might not click under competitive situations (yet), and palace aren't exactly shite? They had to beat city in a final to get here.

Doesn't mean I think they will, but I can see them winning.

Exactly this. I’ll still be annoyed and somewhat surprised if they do but it won’t be a complete shock.

Is this the first time we don't have an English player among our guaranteed
Am almost certain this occurred in some of our games towards the end of last season after Trent declared his intentions
