Stuttgart have dominated the last 15 minutes. Adrian with a couple hours of descent saves.

Haha not sure who that was put it beautifully through grujics legs, he should be annoyed

Does Minamino have a song yet? Wasn't it the chorus of Mamma Mia, something like this?

Mina Mino, here we go again
My my, how can I assist you?
Mina Mino, does it show again?
My my, just how much I've missed you
Yes, I've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mina Mino, now I really know
My my, I could never let you go

To my eyes, it looks like VdB has just moved down in the pecking order. He isn't as ready as Koumetio looks.

Yes. And have to say Hoever looks a lot less solid than Williams on the right side. Keeps allowing crosses to come from there.

I really want Minamino to do well, but sometimes he runs around like a headless chicken...

I thought he was really good. Even helped on defense a couple of times and looks stronger on the ball than before.

Good half from Gini, Milner, Minamino and Adrian. Tsimikas started nervously, but improved.

He looked stronger (I saw he made a defensive tackle in our box at one point), but he just seems clueless on occasion. It may be that I was focusing on him more than others...

But finding a position may be a problem for him. I think Brewster could move ahead at CF and playing on the wing just doesn't seem to suite Minamino. Maybe he'll have a go at no. 8. There looks to be options a plenty all over the squad except for having no ready replacements for our inside forwards/wingers.

I'm excited about Brewster, he is a fox in the box with good link up play and an engine on him.

His footwork is phenomenal.

Bobby, Torres, Alonso & Suarez are the only players in our shirt who have that instant control & touch that I can think of in modern history. Seriously.

When you watch that compilation it's astonishing just how good that close control is, plus the one touch rapid passing & a burst of pace on top.

If he can show that strength & get in the same wavelength as the midfield & forwards he'll be some player.

That said, I do have some doubts about how strong he can be OK the ball with his frame, I hope they're misplaced doubts.

That's why it was good to see him winning some physical battles against some big Stuttgart players. I guess he used the holiday break well.

I think Lallana and Curtis Jones have similar footwork to Taki. Hope he will find a way to translate his skillset to a forward's position rather than that of a #8, where we're pretty well-stacked. And for that to happen, he needs to find confidence to dribble past defenders regularly, that's what Dortmund's Kagawa was so good at, beat one or two players, lay the ball off to a teammate, rinse and repeat.

The one who stood out for me was Jones. Looked comfortable in that midfield role, was very involved in our build up play and worked hard, even got an assist.
Did he look bigger or was I just imagining it?
Would like to see more of him in pre season.

Pretty sure he is our 6th midfielder right now. We'll see loads of him.

Yeah, I was surprised how big he looked. He's going to be quite a specimen at 22-23, imagine trying to take the ball off him if he can combine great physicality and technique.

Good, he needs the experience. Hopefully he can have a big impact this upcoming season. The boy is fearless and I have no doubt in my mind that he will keep scoring goals in the premiership if given a chance.

The evolution of certain players still surprises me. You see Trent playing in midfield for the youth teams only to become a right back. With Curtis, I always saw him as a "Cristiano Ronaldo wannabe" winger, always doing tricks and dribbling. He could have gone the Ryan Kent route but his game suddenly changed. Credit must be given to the youth coaches. He's a totally different player now. Of course there's still work to do but he's "in a good way" as Klopp puts it.

Koumetio : we have another damn good long ball passer. Already has the height now just needs to bulk up ! Prospect.

Tsimikas : mixed bag. However his pace and technical quality could be useful at both ends.

I missed most of the second half, but Koumetio is a few years from becoming 4th choice.
He's definitely on the right track considering that he's ahead of Van den Berg. I think Philips is the defacto 4th choice atm but Fabs is obviously ahead of him as an emergency CB.
