They were exaclty the same tactics that worked last year, so you can't blame dalglish for trying them again. It's just unfortunate that kuyt has turn into a pile of shit over the last year, whilst meireles and maxi both took shits in kenny's personal toilet or something which is the reason they couldn't be picked anymore.

I seem to remember a certain Rafa playing Crouch and Voronin out wide against Reading.

In a 3-1 loss if I remember correctly.

Carroll and Downing are the two signings that stick out like a sore thumb for Kenny. I still think Downing has been decent and can become a good player for us. Carroll on the other hand is much worse. Hefty fee, not delivering and no sign of improvement.
But you cant fault him for the rest of his signings.

Enrique, Adam, Bellamy, Suarez, Coates and Henderson have been good signings. Hendo has shown enough in my eyes to justify the signing, he'll become a great player for us. And I feel his current transfer dealings leave him with more good than bad.

The Carroll transfer will always haunt him though. As clearly we hadnt done our homework and even though we had scouted him it reeked of panic buy. Torres put us in that position, but that we didnt think about signing a player similar to Torres or someone more proven is mind boggeling. At least at that price.

Rafa signed some very good players, but also signed some absolute plonkers.

Degen, Voronin, Aqua, Keane, Dossena, Josemi, Morientes, Jovanovic (to a degree). Probably more aswell if you bother through the list.

it really bodes well for henderson that Hansern is convinced he'll come good.

what was it you used to say about carroll's prospects here?

i think kenny's made 1 really good sigining in enrique, 1 terrible one in downing, 2 mediocre ones in adam and henderson. coates is too early to call. not sure how much he had to do with suarez (probably very little) and carroll (possibly a bit more). bellamy is a nice bonus.

i think it's a fairly poor record: about £30-35m of £100m+ well spent... not great.

Benitez's first season was just as disappointing in the league as this one is, and he made just as many errors.

He had time to put them right, and to be fair, some of the time he did. Kenny should have the same chance to recognise any errors and correct them.

When Peter told me that Neil had conceded a point on here, I nearly crashed the car and had to pull in for lie down. Don't do it again Neil!

Heh, I've been convinced Carroll would come good. But his attitude wont change and he's his own worst enemy. Changing ones opinionis still allowed eh??

Henderson will come good, and I think you're in a minority of our fans if you think otherwise.

It took a Suarez goal on his debut in that game to penetrate the Stoke parked bus. Hardly surprising we couldn't do it this time.

Voronin was a legend

He had one genius touch, I believe a back heel or some other fancy Dan touch returning the ball to Gerrard when we beat Besiktas 8-0.

What a night.

Side note, Carroll has robbed Voronin's hair cut.

Meireles scored the first on 47 minutes, Suarez came on on 63 minutes
