Geez, watching these clips made me shiver - I'd forgotten we scored so many top class goals that season.

Kids watching the past few seasons and wondering what the fuss was about the likes of Reina, Torres and Gerrard in their prime, should be referred to these clips.

It wasn't a pathetic swipe at anyone. Modo started the thread on the assumption that 2 is great than 1, basically pointing out that Rafa had a great defense and midfield, while Rodgers only has a great attack. I was just saying that it's not that cut and dried, it's not a swipe at anyone, don't be so fucking paranoid.

this is a football thread about liverpool, we're discussing two our our best recent teams, what isn't there to like? speculation is the fodder on which this site feeds and survives. oh speculate, vent, opine, let loose, say what you want. oh speculate.

Our defence was also slightly better thanks to Hyypia, Carragher and Arbeloa.

However, we lacked creativity up front which is something I think Brendan's team is a lot better at.

Both good teams.

Benitez had had 3 years to build his team but I think Rodgers's team is still better despite the shorter time available to him. Thought Benitez's was set up, first up, not to lose and he also was rather inflexible especially when Torres and or Gerrard were not available.
 
Well, after the Cardiff match you couldn't help think there was no way, under Rafa, that we'd have gone there and conceded three.

Conversely, in the last 20 years I've not seen home opposition be so fearful of us. They parked the bus, put the handbrake on and drained out the petrol. Teams have simply not feared us like that in a couple of decades. If that had happened against Rafa's team then I think we'd have struggled to score more than one.

I don't know that this takes us any closer to deciding which was is the better team - but I'm enjoying the fear we're generating.

Rafa's team was obv a classy bird who always looked ace and demanded respect and everyone thought was fit, but you had to ask her nicely to blow you and sometimes she didn't really get into it, whereas BRs team is an amateur porno slut who drags you in the bogs, pulls your kecks down, bends you over and starts rimming away before you've even asked.

There's a time and a place for both.
