Sterling would be a fool to go there and sit on the bench. He is progressing quite spectacularly at Liverpool. He has a found a home.

Yeh, he should have scored at least one, but then he's generally ace so he's allowed the odd shit night.

He looked like he was in need of a break last night.

For all the talk of handling him correctly, he's got the weight of the team on his shoulders right now... not good for him or for us.

Yep. Some first touches not working, some basic passing going stray, & misjudging timing of his runs.

He's 19 FFS, he shouldn't be playing this many games, regardless of injuries or anything else.

Yep, thought as much yesterday. Looks overplayed and has played about 400 mins more this season compared to last.
After the WBA game we'll probably see him rested a bit more as Sturridge comes into the team again.

Nail on head! we expect too much from him

That's because he's the only player we have, that isn't injured, that can really win us games. He's basically stepped into Suarez's place, as we failed to address him leaving, and it's way too early in his career to do that.

We have to expect from him, because we can't rely on Balotelli, Markovic, Coutinho and Lambert to actually do anything at the minute.

It doesn't matter.

We're damaging him by playing him.

No player is bigger than the side, I agree, but nevertheless, no result at this stage of the season is worth damaging a young player by overplaying him & laying all our hopes on his shoulders.

If we can't win without a 19 year old player then we don't deserve the points imo.

I agree, we should be treating him better. But we're fucked until Sturridge comes back, so we either overplay Sterling until he does, or we live with having next to no attacking threat for the next few games.

Neither is a good situation, but we've put ourselves in this position by having such a crap window.

I'd love to know what the reasoning was for playing him against Middlesbrough

After the WBA game he will be heading off to Hodgsonland where he will get no rest

If he starts at the weekend I'll be beyond angry.

Rodgers can't paint himself as this miracle man who gets the best out of young players & then play a nineteen year old lad, (who has had attitude problems in the past) until he practically drops, with all the weight of expectation on his shoulders of England fans, now Liverpool fans, who is struggling with form in a side struggling with its form.

It's beyond wrong, it's the football equivalent of gambling your pension on risky shares cos you'd like a new car.

Raheeeeeeeeeemmmm is trying to do too much as he realises, quite rightly, that Mario is fucking garbage..

Play him Saturday and bring him off after 70 mins with the plan that he rubs his groin dramatically and does the hand spinning thing.

Then tell woycunt he's won't make the internationals due a minor groin pull.

Repeat for Hendo / Lallana with 3 minute intervals.

No chance. FFF knows about computers. I bet you Roy is still using a typewriter.
"A what? A typewritea? Not Woy. I'm old school. I use a pen. Not a fancy Dan one, not me, I use a biwo. Now watches, I have a fancy watch, the circumfewence is almost the size of my head. Whiteing though, now that is done with an old school biwo. Keeps leaking all over my England Blazer, Mrs Hodgson isn't weal happy about that."

Remember BR for lambasted last time he didn't start Sterling.
Exactly what I was going to say - he rested him for the Villa game & got slated on this forum; now if he doesn't rest him for the West Brom game he will get slated on this forum ... plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose

I usually defend the manager, but in this case he brought the criticism upon himself by making a pretty sensible argument against overusing Sterling, then, after resting him backfired vs Villa, proceeding to play him in every minute of every game including 120 minutes in the cup game. I would have been OK with him rested for Basel, personally.

I know what you're saying, but you know Wou will bloody play him so maybe play him a little less to prevent an England injury. Wot can't afford to not play him. So he will.

Daily Fail reporting that he's in no hurry to sign a new contract.
2 years left on the current deal.

If it's only a couple of years, give the kid a raise and sign him
Up for another few years. Screw the Mail. It's just bull as we have hit shit form.
