Johnson - 7 - Patchy overhaul but linked up nicely with Kuyt, and that one moment of true class showed why we paid the £17M
Carragher - 6
Skrtel - 6
Insua 7 - Good performance

Masher - 5 - Useless
Gerrard - 6 - Gained one point for the penalty, otherwise was distinctly poor
Lucas - 7 - Played with more confidence than in the past. Maybe just maybe....
Babel - 3 - Terrible
Kuyt - 5 -  Very average

Torres - 5 - Had little service but missed at least one good chance. 

Benayoun - 8 - couldn't ask for much more.
Ayala + Voronin - meh

I think you're overrating Babel and underrating Yossi (yes I know he only played 20 mins, but still); otherwise, spot on.

St George, why are you giving Carra, Skrtel and Insua such bad marks?
 
I just thought they were poor.

Insua got done a couple of times and ddn't really do anything when he got it further forward (I'm sure Dossena would have put some better crosses in, which is disappointing).
 
Carra was at fault for the goal, and you can see why we need a CB whose 6"4 and can head a ball.
But other than that he was pretty good.

He gets a 6.

Babel was shite 1. And Benayoun should have started the game 7.

Reina - 9 + 8 - two superb saves / was easily MoM
Insua - 6 + 5 - keeping Lennon quiet most of the time / easily kept at bay by Corluka. Disappointing.
Skrtel - 6 + 7 - couple of silly tackles in dangerous positions / Hard as nails
Carra - 6 + 7 - has done well clearing up except for that stupid header on Skrtel. Has to stop hoofing it, really.
Johnson - 6 + 8 - quiet, but nothing majorly wrong / so so much better in almost every aspect. Maybe a little nervous
in his first 45 mins for us but was a revelation in the second capped with that fantastic run into the box for the pen.
Masherano - 5 + 6 - looks out of sorts / livened up and even started pressing forward - which we are going to need to see more of.
Lucas - 7 + 7 - good start but gone quiet / thought he had a very good match and in no way let us down.
Kuyt - 5 + 4 - not contributing at all really / this was Kuyt ca. 2007/8
Babel - 4 + 3 - except for one late run I forgot he was on the pitch / I wanted him sold and I still want him sold.
Gerrard - 4 + 6.5 - pretty poor and anonymous. Please God don't let him take any more corners ! / came out of his reverie but way too late.
I am really surprised there was no energy or drive from him until the last 15 mins when he dropped back into CM.
Torres - 5 + 6 - has not looked sharp at all but has had no service from any of the 3 behind him / ditto first half but this time with better service.

Ayala - 6- OK, this will help his confidence, out-jumped Crouchy too.
Benayoun - 8.5 - what a cameo. He terrorised them from his first moment to his last.
Voronin - 6.5 - did OK - unlucky even perhaps not to score from an excellent run.

Spurs 10 shots (5 on target) to our ONE off target says it all / if we had played the first half like the second we could have won this even though nowhere near decent.

Was he? I thought it was fucking impressive he even played after that incident. Most people would be out cold after getting Carra's head in their chin. It was definitely Carra's fault that they both went for the same ball as well.

The fact the two of them still played on says it all for their sheer determination.

You notice Carra got beaten to headers repeatedly today? Someone on here said he'd lost his 'spring' at the end of last season, I think they may be right. I hate myself for thinking it like, but there you go.

Yeah fair play to him for carrying on, and it did seem like Carragher was at fault.

But he was absolutely terrible for the rest of the game. Perhaps it's unfair to judge him if he was concussed or whatever, but terrible he was.
