They now have an incredible array of talent at their disposal but can they make it work?

Last season Isco had a great start to the season whilst Gareth Bale was out but as soon he came back to the side Isco found himself on the bench with Ancelotti unsurprisingly going for a front three with Bale included backed by a three man midfield that doesn't really allow for a no.10.

That makes the signing of Rodriguez quite interesting because as good as they all are, Ancelotti has got a real job on his hands to making it all work so as to get the best out of all of them.

Ronaldo could play up top but then they would lose the focal point that Benzema gave them and Ronaldo would lose some of the freedom he so enjoys. Rodriguez could play out wide but then would that get the best out of him? He could also perhaps drop into midfield but that could leave them pretty exposed defensively particularly given that they're likely to have to find space for Kroos. And what happens to Modric who has been great?

Or is it likely to simply be like a Garth Crooks team of the week with 4 strikers and a midfield comprised solely of attackers who scored at the weekend? It'd be fun to watch.

I can't believe they've spent 60m on Rodriguez . I don't get the fuss.. Or not 60m of fuss.

I presume Suarez was never keen on them or something as soon as he heard of barca's interest?

I don't think Real were interested, were they?

Madness if they weren't ..for £10m more?

I think it'll be just as tight this season . Atletico' shouldn't be too disheartened , whilst they've lost a few, heave bought in a decent forward and the both madrid and barca look somewhat unbalanced .

Christ knows how Neymar, messi and Suarez will work . They can't all score 30 goals plus can they?!

It's funny, I think they've got half a team of really brilliant footballers now, more or less bought for being good at football, and half of 'stars' like Ronaldo and Bale, who are also brilliant players but don't really fire the imagination in the same way. I suppose that's progress.

If they can build a team around Kroos and Rodriguez, Isco, Varane, Jese, and a few others, then they'll start to be a likable team again.

They were after Suarez until Barca came in, they thought they'd got him and had spoken to him. Once he found out about Barca that was that.
I wonder if they'd have gone for James/spent so much if he'd have not had a marvellous world cup.

I have absolutely no idea how they are going to line up.

Rodriguez makes no sense unless you have a front three of Ronaldo, Rodriguez and Bale. And then you left with Kroos and Modric as two attacking kids behind them.

Looks very unbalanced unless they are going to rotate them, can't see any of those players happy with that.

Really - you think they are a great side ? - I think they have a soft centre, and if we face them I hope we absolutely rip the shit out of them. As quoted by @Roopy - their defense is shit - not one of those players in their main back four had a dignified world cup.

I hate your optimism, as it always ends with a fall. Remember when you said we would smash palace 10-0?

We would have had not our defense decided not to defend when we were 3-0 up. I was right about Brazil though, and regards Madrid - when Liverpool play them - there can only be one winner - and that is us.

For the record, who said they are a great side?
