Once McClaren came a calling he couldn't refuse eh?

He'll be signing for Citeh for 50m in a couple of years now.

Any more on the radar KHL?

According to Goal he was the best young player in the Serie A this Season.

According to me we should buy him now.

*Luckily for us Palermo ended just short of 4th hence they are not going to play in the Champions League either.

Palermo defender Simon Kjaer has agreed to terms with Wolfsburg, and is one step closer to joining the German side. The 21-year-old will cost the club approximately €10-12 million, and will join Arne Friedrich as the second stopper to move to the side in the last week. He is set to sign a four-year contract.

Kjaer and Friedrich will be a rather solid looking cb-pairing I reckon.

Well, here's some players on my radar at least..

Christian Eriksen, attacking midfielder, has really got loads of potential but he's probably going to take at least another year in Ajax. He's by far one of the biggest talents Denmarks has seen in the past 10 to 15 years. Not since the Laudrups has the hype been so immense. Youngest player at the WC.

Mathias Zanka could be a rather cheap-ish alternative for the CB positions should we need a young promising backup to Carra, Skrtel and Agger. He plays at Hodgsons old club FC Copenhagen so he's probably well aware of him. He's a big talented lad that's equally good on the floor as he is in the air.

Oscar Wendt - A classy and skillful Swedish LB. Good range of passing, good pace and good abilities overall.

And then there's another interesting name on the sky these days.

Kenneth Zohore. A gigantic 16-year-old striker with flair and power rarely seen. He's also playing at FC Copenhagen and has already made his firstteam debute. Not since Bendtners days has a player gone directly from the U16 to the U19 at International-level in Denmark.

There's a little interesting twist to these players from FC Copenhagen - even apart from the obvious Roy-connection - their current manager Ståle Solbakken, Norwegian, is a major Liverpool-fan.

As ever, thanks (your scouting posts are a real feature on here). Keep us informed of developments!

Even though things cant get much worse its a good thing we didn't get him IMO. Unless of course it means that Carra keeps playing :/

We are up shitecreek these days. Who will it be next? Its Sean Dundee time in LFC ffs...

Simon Kjaer is considered among the top 11 flop transfers in the Bundesliga. He's doing very bad right now.

He's had a poor start indeed and as he was one of the most expensive buys in the Bundesliga this Season a lot is expected of him.

He'll be fine I'm sure but he's certainly feeling the pressure. My guess is that he can handle it and learn from it too but you'll never really know with such young players. Time will tell.

Scored his first goal in the League for FC Copenhagen in the weekend. Still only 16-year-old:

http://vodpod.com/watch/4798922-fc-copenhagen-vs-lyngby-bk-32

He's still way short of Liverpool XI-class but the potential is there. He actually impressed me away to Barca last week too when he got the last 20 minutes or so. Big, strong and fast. According to his manager Ståle Solbakken he'll be better than Carew as he's got better technique although equally strong build. Could be one for the future but we should at least wait a year or two before an eventual attempt to snap him up.

Swedish left-back Oscar Wendt will leave Danish Champions FC København on a free come next Summer.

Would be a really good signing for us - especially on a free.

Still rough around the edges but has got loads of potential, good technique, pace and a decent cross on him too.

I think he needs a haircut though.

I'm not sure how many more players with shit haircuts we can accomodate.

Can he defend?
[/quote]
His main defensive ability is one-on-one's.

He needs to up his game when it comes to the aggression-part perhaps but he's extremely difficult for anyone to go by. Despite his slim looks he's a very balanced and quite strong player with good pace.

Oscar Wendt interest confirmed by scout Jakob Friis-Hansen. We are also keeping a close eye on another Swede for the LB position with a slightly cooler name.

Behrang Safari. Don't know much about him to be honest but the few times I've seen him play he's seemed fast and technically sound.

Well, Safari is not good enough for Liverpool. His defensive side of the game is too dodgy, but he's pretty young still, so he's got time to improve. He's fast though, and pretty good going forward.

The same goes for Wendt really. Will have a look at him when Sweden play Germany tonight, might be a good test for him. Safari's been ahead of him in the pecking order so far though.

I take it that you watch Köpenhamn quite often KHL? How's he been doing lately? I watched some parts of the games against Barcelona, and he did pretty well there.

I've been suggesting Wendt for quite some time now mate as I truely believe he's got what it takes to make the step. His latest brilliant cameos alongside his teammates in FC København has just underlined my belief in him.

Nothing's for certain obviously when it comes to footballers but he's got a lot of the abilities I'd like to see in a LB in an attacking-minded and positive Liverpool set-up.
