I agree, but he has been frankly fucking awful these past two seasons. The Ramires goal today was shambolic, and it brought back memories of other moments from Pepe. He isn't what he used to be unfortunately.

Pepe has been on the slide now for about 3 years, he was once the best keeper in the country and he gets by now more on reputation that performance. Sadly though we have much bigger issues in our team than his half arsed goal keeping, I think Kenny needs to have a chat with him and decide if his heart is really in it, he could still command a decent fee but it seems like he just doesnt want to be here anymore, maybe a move would be best for all parties

I don't disagree. It's not particularly surprising. The reason he was so good was his agility and reflexes, studies have shown they peak in the mid twenties. Reina will be thirty later this year.
But the number of keepers who go on to play possibly their best football in their thirties suggests that the effects of that can be made up for in other ways.
Name another keeper who had physical talents like Reina.
none of the ones that go on to play late into their thirties ever had it. And they're typically a lot lighter than Reina too.
True, added to that, he often played as an auxilary sweeper, racing out of the box to clear danger with foot or head, leaving very few opportunities for the opposition to play long balls over the top for forwards to run onto, he doesnt seem to do that much anymore either. Whether thats due to age slowing him down or a change of tactics its hard to say

Anyways, writing Pepe off at this stage (29 years old) is simply madness. He's not had a great season by any means , yet he remains one of the best in the world and could easily be good enough to have another 5+ years with us.

None of those keepers you named ever had the physical gifts Reina did. They didn't have what he had to lose. And none of the keepers you mentioned were actually better in their thirties. They were just still good enough to play.

I've already named 4 recent keepers off the top of my head who have thrived well into their 30's whilst having similar styles, heights and builds to Pepe. You've simply read something about "agility and reflexes" and jumped to the conclusion that Pepe will turn to shite, even though there is enough evidence to say other wise.
