Well, let’s look at the data then cheesey:

He’s been dribbled past 57 times in the last 4 seasons. Trent has been dribbled past 55 times this season.

The last season he played as an attacking right back:

In 22/23 he had:

- 56% ground duels won (in the 78th percentile for fullbacks)
- dribbled past 0.7 times per game (also 78th percentile)
- 2.8 dribbles per game (98th percentile)
- 0.23 xAssists per game (90th percentile)
- 0.25 xG per game (94th percentile)

This defender that can’t defend narrative is a poor one when it comes to him, but it must be true cause you saw it once.
I've seen him more than once.
Anyway, I'm mainly against the signing because of the price. I think we have more pressing issues in the team.
Ideally we'd make a Kromkamp, Tsimikas type signing for like £15 mill and use the remaining resources to replace Nunez, get a CB, get LB, get an attacking mid and maybe a left winger if Diaz leaves.
Honestly, I'm surprised there's so few options. Right back is arguably the easiest position to fill.
You can put a midfielder there and be fine.

30 mill for that type of player, age and HG is nothing.

These are the parts that worry me about Frimpong.

Comparing his defensive stats to Trent's is a bit misleading, as he plays RWB in the midfield four, with three central defenders covering for him at the back. We might as well compare his defensive stats to Salah.

He might be a Danny Alves level talent in which case we do what it takes to accommodate his style of play. It would be funny if Alonso took him to Madrid and made him a starter.
I don't think Real Madrid managers have a choice in selecting players or have any say in transfers, I think that level of stuff is only done at board/president level and who they think will make them great or who they think makes them have star studded status in that position.

How about his height? He's about the same height as Elliott. One less defender in the box for us on corners then.

We’re one of the best teams in the league when it comes to defending set pieces.

Perfect world we sign Frimpong and someone like Vanderson and then boot Chiesa to the curb. The right side would be stacked, which would please everyone other than Salah.

Frimpong was not my first choice but if it's true that the release clause can be paid in instalments we'd be a fool to look away.

If anything, at least it looks like an easy deal to do. Get it done then let's move on to the bigger targets

I don't see how frimpong works at all. Perhaps it means we can actually manage salahs minutes. As a substitute for a right back in a back four though? He can't defend, can he?

I guess if we can sign a CB I'd be ok with it. The pace is good.

A super quick right back overlapping Salah may well stop defenders triple teaming on Salah, which would stop Salah from trying and failing to take on three defenders every game. Could be a positive.

I wonder…. Pure speculation - after we had this with Trent for years, may as well have it with Bradley.

Is there a case to be made for Bradley playing in midfield, in the Gravy role - we’ve seen Bradley drop into midfield, he’s capable defensively, can burst past opppsition players and has a good range of passing.

That way signing Frimpong & Vanderson would make sense.

Also… Bradley does have a build more akin to a certain gold coloured protocol droid!!!

Also… Bradley’s wiki page looks like @Holle has been editing it!!!

He can defend. He's been dribbled past as many times in 4 years as Trent has in 1.
