51 goals now. Not bad for someone who's apparently "3rd choice for Ireland" these days!

More goals than anyone ever scored for England.
31 of the 51 have come in Qualifiers or World Cup Finals.
Part of an extremely small group of players to have scored a half century for their country.
Now 30 ahead of 2nd place (Quinn) who also played in far better team than the ones Robbie's been involved in.

That he's the greatest player in our history isn't even up for debate.

A remarkable and brilliant achievement for an Irishman. Fair play to him.

Fantastic achievement (for a lazy fat pisshead who only scores against shit teams)

Fair play, I do like our Robbie, it's a shame it never worked out.

Who the fuck is Giles?
England's World Cup winning manager, Sir Alf Ramsey, said of Giles' influence as a player on English football:
"As I look at all the talent and character at my disposal today, my one regret is that John Giles wasn't born an Englishman."[6]
After Manchester United manager, Sir Matt Busby, later realised his error in allowing Giles to depart for Leeds, he said:
"Selling him to Leeds, not seeing his potential as a midfield player, was my greatest mistake in football."[7]
For Giles' on field abilities, his former boss at Leeds, Brian Clough, wrote of him in his autobiography:
"Giles could grab hold of a match, tuck it in his back pocket, and carry it around with him. He didn't need to find space, it was as if space found him."[8]
Firstly. Thats ridiculous.
Secondly.....How much of this Giles chap have you actually seen? Seriously?

Different type of player altogether. Johnny Giles was a very, very good midfield player with a great range of passing who chipped in with a goal or two as well. He was also one vicious bastard - even in that Leeds side, who were by a street the dirtiest champions English football has ever seen, he was one of the worst.

I'd sign a 25-year-old Johnny Giles in a heartbeat though.
