Robertsgone?

Our best ever left back?

I hated the signing and thought he’d fail and he’s proven to be an absolute bargain and outstanding signing on and off the pitch.

I’d be sad to see him go and think he’d do well being rotated next season.

Time is right to move him on, he’s been well below par the last 2 years and I’d rather not see a legend struggle for any longer then needs be. 31 and unlikely to find his old self too many more times.

The biggest shame is losing an absolute character in the dressing room. That type of contribution can never be overlooked.

Recently we've seen Jones, chiesa, gravy, szob, gakpo, all step up in that area. Hopefully it continues

Frimpong will definetly step up

Robbo is too proud to be a back up, I think.
He probably feels that he still has "gas in the tank" and can perform regularly at top level.
He's also the Scotland captain, can't be seen as a back up.
It'll be sad to see him go, but he can leave with his head held up high.

If you're reading this Robbo, please put in a two-footer on Trent when you play them in the Madrid derby.

I thought we'd finally see the back of Tsimikas but I guess not now. Nice guy and tbf has improved under El Slot but never persuaded me he had the quality or consistency for us.

Think Robbos all action game is inevitably catching up with him. What a guy. End of an era but it's a young mans game playing FB and I can't wait to see Kerkez and Frimpong bombing on.

Yeah Kostas stays, unless we have young left-back coming up.
Don't see Rushie's nephew making it, unless he does something great in pre-season, but Slot isn't easily impressed.

Unlike some 😉 I was always behind signing Robbo, as I liked the look of him at Hull despite them not being up to much as a team overall. Being a veteran of the first glory days I also liked the idea that we were getting a Scottish element back in the side. Favourite memories include him pressing about four members of an opposition defence one after the other till they lost the ball, taking out Raphinha after he'd hacked Sadio Mane down when we played Leeds one time, and of course tw@tting Messi on that magic night against Arselona at Anfield.

Kostas is 3 years younger, has 2 years left on his deal and is on 85k less per week.

A better back up to Kerkez maybe. Shame he’s gone a bit shit.

Tell you what, if we sell as painlessly and easily as possible to Athleti…. Might make the more amenable to selling us Alvarez at some point down the line

We seem very good at trying to not annoy clubs and making decent relationships in the process.

I remember him coming off at half-time in the World Club Cup final, arm around Sadio Mane who was upset about the treatment he'd had off their right back. You could hear him saying "Sadio, it's OK, I'll get him" and within a few minutes of the re-start he kept his promise. The very best of shithouses.

Yes re best left back.

On another note, when was the last signing that you were both confident with and more than happy with regarding the cost of the player.

Pretty sure I've told this story but Robbo was a committee signing. Jurgen didn't object, but he wasn't pushing for it. He'd wanted Benjamin Mendy (shudders) who'd gone to City, Alex Sandro (who I think was either injured or over-priced) or even Ben Chilwell (who was still at Leicester and had barely played). The data team suggested Robbo, and let's not forget even after we signed him Klopp was still picking Alberto Moreno ahead of him. But Robbo was not to be denied.
We had money left in the budget and Klopp agreed to sign him, but he expected Robbo to just be back-up to Moreno with a view to upgrading further down the line.
