I like Mata. He would be elegant out on our left flank. I love that link where he nutmegs Raul Abiol at training. Mata might have noticed the impact his ex team mate Silva has made over here and is up for a similar challenge.

Does he fit the criteria that Hansern posted a while back? No mentioned under Daglish, will please Pepe (not that I think we should sign players to keep others happy), QUICK, WHATS THE LENGHT OF HIS CONTRACT?

balague also reckons we're in for mata, along with city and utd, and that valencia would be happy to do business at around £20-25m. his general take on our plans seem to tally with what this twitter lad's been saying, FWIW.

Balague talks so much shit that I now even have trouble believing that his name is actually guillem balague.

Clichy has a habit of using his pace to get himself out of trouble. I think he'll move away from England and go to Spain.

I'm totally on the Vargas bandwagon now. Contreau will be too expensive and I don't want to spend over 10mil on Enrique. Make this shit happen Comolli.

Contreao is a good player, but I agree that Cointreau is a nice and expensive drink though... ;D

I used to say that.

I even had a go at him on Twitter, when he said Torres wanted to talk to Chelsea....

Ha, I had a feeling it wasn't spelt how I wrote it but too lazy to google it.

Sahin gone to Madrid? Has anyone heard this? Friend in work just said he read it was agreed?

my fave part:

"The decision was hard to take. I am Borussia and will remain Borussia. I will miss Dortmund," he confirmed at a press conference.

errrrrrrrrrrrrrm?

Paul saying we have had a bid for Iker Muniain rejected. Anyone have any idea how good this Torres look-alike is?

looks good when i've seen him. not convinced he's the answer but i'd have him if he didn't cost a ton

Read that we're in for Mata and Jesus Navas in different articles. Big smiles all around. Fee around £20M

Doesn't Navas suffer from chronic homesickness and debilitating anxiety attacks? Wouldn't mind Diego Perotti from Sevilla though.

More than anything the bigest thing to focus on is leadership.

We're not gong to be able to buy our way to the top.

Firstly we probably arent going to spend anything near like what some are hoping; and secondly even if we are the rest are going to strengthen.

The Mancs are going to win even though their team is arguably far weaker than previous teams, and they'll be mindful of our potential improvements on the field. They ARE going to strengthen, so it's crucial that Kenny be able to mentally take on that fuckhole up the road.

Not meant to be a dig at anyone; but something tells me he's the only manager we could get that would go toe-to-toe with that prick and eventually beat the fucker at his own game.

He overcame that. He went to the World Cup sure.

Doesn't really count. He was among a bunch of his Spanish mates. Good player but Do Not Want, for the reason Binny refers to.

Mark Noble has been rumoured.

Excellent player. I'd love us to sign him provided (a) his heart's in the move and (b) we have room in the squad.

If it's between Noble and McCarthy I'd pick McCarthy every time.

When it comes to having Noble and McCarthy as our new midfielders we're really into "Trust Kenny' territory because I just don't see it being very good.

Won't be that simple though, will it, gene? With Gerrard, Meireles and others also in the squad, these two would be options, and IMHO good ones.

I know what you mean Jules but if we bought both of them it would be clear that they're behind Gerrard and Meireles. I want us to have two midfielders who are just as good as Gerrard and Meireles. If we lined up against a top team, in England or Europe, with McCarthy and Noble in the middle I wouldn't have high hopes. I want us to have 4 Cms who can holds their own at the very highest level - not just against lower teams or in the League Cup.

With top-notch teammates around them I think they'd be all right, gene. Noble has been ready for a step up for a while IMO and McCarthy is an international player.

I don't want him either to be honest. Good player but not worth potential risks.
