Not sure why the LFC FB page ran with this - but it brought back some great memories ... The goal against Bayern was just amazing - the Villa header ... man he had so many great goals ... he was such a great player.
Mine is the first goal against Arsenal in his first game. There was an element of doubt around the signing and that instantly showed it was ill founded. Pace, strength, technique, powerful finish. It had everything.
If it wasn't for the context of Manes first goal then the Bayern goal takes it. It was one of those moments where football becomes art.
Watched him score the goal that ended up securing us the title, Vs Bournemouth, in person at Anfield in March 2020, so I've gotta go with that one. However, the shot he took from 25 yards out that thundered against the bar, ten minutes from time would have been a goal of the season contender... Had me off my feet as it left his foot, it was soooooooo close to being a screamer!
It's weird because with his pace and power you'd think he'd have scored loads of brilliant goals for us, but the more I thought about it the harder it was to think of many. If you actually watch his goals they're mostly just real poacher's efforts. Salah's are way sexier.
He joined the season before we got Salah - and if Klopp was building a house both him and Gini were the initial foundations that were laid and we got into the CL that season setting up next season for the signings of Salah/VVD . Those early days with Klopp were so fun - fucking me I am almost crying. Fuck off all of you - Moron has lost his composure.
So surprised by his sudden drop-off - I really thought he was going to have a long career into his 30’s like George Weah. Maybe football changed since then.
