When the fixtures came out I didn't fancy us to get a win in our first 5 league games and so its been the case.

You simply can't change as much as we have and expect to be able to put teams like Utd, Arsenal or the champions away even at home. Sunderland away is always a tough game and O'Neill is doing great work there. The only hope we really had was West Brom and the sending off knocked the stuffing out of us.

But the signs are definitely positive when you take into account we didn't get a striker and had the most cnutish opening set of fixtures I can remember.

We've already adapted to the new style relatively quickly

We've been competitive in every game and dominated 3 of them.

We've blooded in a number of youngsters inlcuding Sterling, Shevley and Suso (who's have guessed that in pre season?)

I fully expect us now to go on a big run and steadily start climbing up the table (derby aside as I think Everton have developed into a quality quality side, horrible and all as that is to admit).

Once we get a win next week under our belts things will look alot better.

And don't forget the top teams are all taking points off each other. I still think we will be there or there abouts for a top 4 finish come May.

Pat mate, hate to disappoint you but the season started 5 games ago. We've won 5 league games in the whole of 2012. We're not suddenly going to start racking up win after win.I reckon we'll get 4 points out the next 3 games.

I'll go for 5

Perhaps a cheeky 7

Keep with it Sean. We have had a f*cker of a fixture list. We'll get 7 minimum!

I'm fed up of trying to be positive mate. As I said to you yesterday - if I set my expectations really low then they'll at least get met and anything else is a bonus 🙂

That's similar to my life's motto

Expect the worst and you're never disappointed

Football is exempt from that for some reason though

Ha ha ya it was strange not seeing you happy (football wise)

I guess the first 5 games gave me more than expected so I'm more positive.

I honestly expected nothing from the first 5 and have been suprised at how quickly we've changed our style.

A long way to go but I think we will start beating the poorer sides now. And because we have no wins the old not performing against the smaller teams won't creep in. Next weekend will be like a cup final.

norwich away piece of piss folks

as long as its wet as fuck and Suarez has a shot from the half way line 😱

Oh no, when DB dreams, we are entering into nightmare street.
So max 3 points for the next 3 games.

I agree with Pat.
We changed too much and it made it a very tough start.
We already knew it would be given the fixture list, yet we have still outplayed Manchester City and United and Sunderland. We were poor against Arsenal and we blew up against West Brom but there was still good.
Bedding Sterling, Borini, Sahin, Allen into the first team in place of canny seasoned pros was ALWAYS going ro be risky and take a while, but coupled with games vs Arsenal, City AND United it was a nightmare.
I dont necessarily think the games get easier but our team will understand each other better and grow as a team as the season carries on.
Goals are a worry, and we HAVE TO shore up at the back. Too many stupid mistakes are costing us points.
But we have a young, vibrant and exciting team, and thats what i wanted this season. Its the way clubs like Seville and Napoli turned things round and it takes time.
You dont win anything with kids?
We'll see

Ps-It is quite funny watching a lot of you lose your shit about all this.
Im really optimistic for the first time since the start of Rafa's last season.
It might not be this year, but its YEAR 1.

Not much to disagree with here. In fact there's nothing to disagree with here.

Arsenal were really bad at the start of last season, but managed to climb up to 3rd eventually. It's not all doom and gloom. We just have to continue refining our play and working on our goal scoring.

They also had a 25 goal scorer in their squad we have what, maybe a 10 goal scorer?
