Selliott

It's six of one half a dozen of the other, we've not been particularly "hands off" in our messages about Diaz, he's not really covered himself in glory with his comments either "If I have to stay for 2yrs..". It's just business.

That said, as much as I didn't agree with the booing of Trent, he's living in another World if he thinks running down his contract and not giving us the opportunity to get a fee was fair play, given his history with the club. It's like secretly working hard on a separation for years to ensure that you walk away with everything when the time comes.

I don't think its irrelevant. Choosing not to extend a contract for a player who has a 2+ year guarantee of mega earnings is in no way a betrayal in the grand scheme of things.

Is anyone saying it is a betrayal? I jumped in without reading the thread.

As a general point though, I find the "for 100K a week" type arguments to be annoying.

The wages are standard in the industry so feeling of contentment will come down to other things, naturally.

All in all, its the best move for his career. Great lad and has handled all this in the best possible way, but he isnt good enough to start for us and the manager wants a different profile of player.

Villa leading race according to todays reports. Wonder what type of fee we are looking at. Should be 45-50 mill, hopefully.

He should easily be valued at this level. I think Villa would be a great place for him

Much like Asensio, I don’t think Harvey would be a starter at Villa.

In the prem, it’s Spurs or Bournemouth (if Kluivert leaves as rumoured) for me but I think he’d be better going to Germany.

Keep him, play him in one one of the many pointless CL games and let him build some form. Feels kind counter productive to sell someone talented, English and committed. Plus Mo rates him.., I know he is a saleable asset but still, sell someone else or agree buy back at mininum for what we sell…

Exactly that. If he goes to Brighton he'll probs end up at Citeh in a couple of years for double what he went for.

This, and with Wirtz joining he's even further away from starting.
I like the kid, but he should go. Another season like the last one won't do him any good.
Agree. I love Harvey but there keeping him if he’s not going to play is daft. He’s stock couldn’t be any higher right now. Hopefully he scores the winner in the final too and we get an English tax to offset other purchases.
It would only make sense if Slot had some kind of epiphany and saw him playing a much bigger role which I severely doubt.

Wirtz joining creates a position in the team that Harvey can excel in, as backup and rotation.

Interesting take, but I don’t think it works like that. Messi didn’t create a “false 9” position for some younger Barca prospect - the indulgences you make for a superstar are simply not worth it for players who are simply good, but not exceptional. Harvey was already in “Salah’s position” as a left-footed RW playmaker and that didn’t help him one bit.
