Selliott

This is why with isak, with Trent etc, if I set aside some degree of tribalism, I'm not interested in pillorying players for fucking clubs over.

Being genuinely into Liverpool made no difference, and then exploring an alternative made no difference. His agent has made money. The clubs in question have saved the money they wanted or "had to" save. It's true that nobody really wins in this mess, but harvey is the one that loses he most.

But is there tons of moralizing in the press when the shoe is on the other foot about the behavior of the clubs? The employees should consider the welfare of the club, but should the club consider the welfare of the employees. No, it's just business and unfortunate.

For a whole host of reasons he should go abroad when he can.

Nobody wins... but Harvey did win a CL (2019–20), Club World Cup (2020), UEFA Super Cup (2019), FA Cup (2022), League Cup (2022), and the FA Community Shield (2022), oh, and a Premier League title, all with Liverpool Football club, before the age of 22... and earned over 5m quid in that time.

Two EPLs? No?

And now he gets paid a shit ton of money and doesn't even have to bother playing. Not a bad life.

He will lose future earnings by virtue of this sequence of events, though, and this is what the focus of his entire life has been. His career will be over in the blink of an eye and he's the one success of tens of thousands of other prospects that the machine already ate up.

It's reported there's no recall, so Villa would have to end it. They might start seeing it as a waste of wages before long. Will see in January I guess. Emery clearly didn't want him or doesn't rate him now.

I’m not an avid reader of all sports news so will probably have not got all the nuance but my read of this is that Buendia’s form has meant there is no “push” to involve Elliott and his potential cost, for a squad player (assuming he continues to be, at least, 2nd choice), reinforces this.
It remains to be seen if Buendia’s form continues and injuries don’t start to bite.
If Villa get to January with no no real change they may look to negotiate with us to cancel, but that will still cost them cash. So the easiest answer is for Elliott to stay at Villa ‘just in case’. He’s not blocking an overseas slot and it may be just not worth paying to cancel early

Slot on Harvey Elliott's situation: "No, I haven't had contact with him a lot. I think only once or twice and that was before he played Feyenoord away and after he played Feyenoord away, but that had more to do with that he played against a former club of mine. So no, I haven't been speaking to him.

"I am aware of his situation, of course. I knew how difficult it already was for him over here, so I think I know how he feels at this moment. But you should ask those questions at Villa and not over here when it's about his playing time over there."

Contrast this with Klopp who would always say he was in regular contact with players who were out on loan.

Ideal Christmas - Slot gets the boot and Elliott comes home.

Yeah but Elliott is supposed to be not returning as the fee is set. I get it is a loan but he was effectively sold in everyone's eyes at the PoS

He has to play 10 games to trigger the buy clause, he's played 5 and they are set on not playing him so they don't have to buy him, as they were at the start of the season. The whole thing is a farce.

"but that had more to do with that he played against a former club of mine."

This is your manager guys, what a cheesecake.

Sure, my point was he was effectively sold. No-one was expecting him not to be played.

Also I suspect Arne has been advised to bounce all questions so as not to reprise any cancellation negotiations

The point is that he doesn't make the effort to impact how people feel, and appears to genuinely not understand what the concept entails.

To be fair they'll probably strip him of his Dutch citizenship if he developed undesirable traits like empathy.

I fail to see what Slot can do for Elliott at this point. Harvey was effectively gone and if he doesn't get his 10 games, it's totally on him / Villa.

Anyway Slot has more than enough on his plate than to worry about Harvey. At this rate Harvey will probably outlast Slot at ours.

Just come home mate…. Let’s put a massive hug around you pal, remind you, you’re a boss player. I hope the club brings him home….hes one of us.
