SLOT’S QUAD SQUAD

I'm naturally pessimistic, but this transfer window and the prospect of nunez leaving has got me all worked up.

Watched a video of the 13 defining moments of our league win, and our number 20 popped up in at least 3 of them...

He would have made a difference. We were so close to having one of the best squads we have ever had.

Some on here wanted to sell the lad, and I can understand that given his previous injury record, but he was the coolest finisher in the squad and I'd have kept him for at least another season.

With two and a bit weeks to the start of the season I’m rounding up the troops.

As always we are recruiting those who have an unfounded 100% belief we are walking towards number 21 with some additional silverware along the way.

Who is signing up??????????

Currently enlisted.

Like why the fuck am I not on this list?

PL deffo.

CL depends on signing Isak and Guehi. With those the double is on.

All 4 : depends on our squad, youngsters and Slot. Odds against as we will need luck too.

I don't think we'll win anything, too much change and it'll take a while to settle. We also over performed last year and a few others underperformed.
I agree with the change aspect, but all the ones who (i felt) underperformed have been sold or replaced by superior players.

I'm hopeful, but it all depends if it clicks

Does anybody my age think that this summer feel like the summer we sold Rushie and brought in a few players, including Aldo (late the previous season, I think), Digger and Beardsley? I was worried that we were changing too much and that we may not click, even with all that talent...

I'm gonna let what that team did calm any nerves I may be feeling, and expect wonderful things from this new look Liverpool.

Change will affect the other sides at or near the top of the league as well. I'm not convinced City's signings last season and this summer are of the same quality as the players they replaced, while the Arse have a fair few newbies of their own to bed in. We're still the team to beat IMO.

That's all theoretical until games are played. Obviously it could all work out, and I agree it does seem like we've had a great summer. It's just we tend to perform far better when we're consistent with the squad. And wining the league twice in a row isn't done very often, I don't think Arsenal managed it in the last 30 years, and Chelsea only have done it once.

All completely fair, but there's always elements of theoretical going into every season. We've tended to perform better in recent years when we've had a settled squad, but was that a klopp issue, or a us as a club issue? We don't know (another variable).

IF it clicks, we'll be grand. If it doesn't, then it's absolutely the quad for the next 4 years after as we deeeeefinitely won't be spending like this again for a while

But I think we'd feel differently about him. Then again, people like me might argue it was Suarez who won us the league, and suddenly, you’ve got two factions. The Brendan apologists and the Suarez realists.

Larry beat me to it. What a weird suggestion.

Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool manager was pretty decent and very nearly got us #19.

Only Shanks and Juergen can say they took Liverpool as a basket case back to the top table. It’s not an easy task!
