If we won the league that year Rodgers would have been our manager for a few more years and being the manager to end the drought means he would have earned that spot 100%.

Let’s be honest… If Brenda had won the league, that flag would have been taken home and mounted on his wall, but folded in a way he covered over all the other managers.

On the wall opposite there’d likely be a giant photo of him looking at the flag of himself on the wall.

Yeah, as much as I wanted that Gerrard / Suarez team to win the title (and I really fucking did), it was a L we needed to take in order to get Klopp.

All completely fair, but there's always elements of theoretical going into every season. We've tended to perform better in recent years when we've had a settled squad, but was that a klopp issue, or a us as a club issue? We don't know (another variable).

IF it clicks, we'll be grand. If it doesn't, then it's absolutely the quad for the next 4 years after as we deeeeefinitely won't be spending like this again for a while

Also worth noting we successfully overhauled the midfield and it clicked seamlessly into the best in the league. There was some fortune there with the Caicedo bullshit, but good players generally find ways to work together pretty quickly. Slot also rebuilt his previous team with a quick turn around. I remember reading it was partly why he was hired.
