So Higuian or Berahino

As most know I never pay too much attention to any other teams or player apart from Liverpool. Lots of rumblings about these two though. Anyone fancy giving me the lowdown? Who would you prefer? Higuian seems to have been around for yonks and amazingly I roughly know who he is! Berahino is a new kid on the block for me. Worth the risk?

Cheers me dears.

I'm not sure Higuain is the best fit.

But that aside, having watched the level of this team this year I think we're at least a season away from considering any marquee player in his late 20's.

Yeah Higuain is no work horse.
The type of striker that we need is rare.
Lacazette is probably as close as it gets but that's obviously never going to happen.

I wonder if we could get one of Aubameyang, Immobile, or Adrian Ramos from Dortmund.

It's not Reus, but those are some talented goal scorerss.

The answer is....

Whichever one Chelsea/Arsenal/Spurs don't swoop for while we're fannying around trying to knock a couple of quid off the deal.

Lavezzi is being talked about and he does seem to be a hard worker as well as having other requisite qualities. I'd consider him.

Hmmm that would seem to be a prerequisite. We'll end up with Defoe on loan I know it! 🙁

He does assist as much as he scores though. And to be fair to him, he has mostly been played wide rather than through the middle. I like Lavezzi.

I like what I've seen from Berahino. I think he could be Sturridge-esque. Worth 15m if we could get him for that. I'd stay away from the Higuain/Cavani types.

For some reason Higuain, Lavezzi and Cavani all seem to me the same person..... I'm either stupid, not arsed that much about footy or ignorant. Huh! 😗

Higuain has scored almost a goal every other game his whole career in three different leagues and internationals.
Hes on the list.

The good news is that Sunderland are apparently about to sign Defoe. The bad news is this presumably scuppers any chance they might have tried again for Borini.

Thread duty: Berahino's very talented and will certainly be cheaper. I can't help feeling we could do with more experience in the side, but if it comes to a choice between these two I can't see the club choosing to go for Higuain.

Borini won't go there. He's got it in his head that he should be playing for a top club, at the very least one challenging for a UEFA Cup place. I presume the ideal situation as far as he is concerned is a move back to Italy.

Last transfer window I got really wound up with the prospect of us not signing anyone, as I genuinely believed it would scupper our chances of a top four position. I was plenty wrong about that, obviously. I think it's important we bring in a striker this window - looks like that will be Origi - but it would be nice to feel as if the club was still capable of bringing in someone as good as Lavezzi or Higuain. I suspect we'll need to be an established top four club before that happens - maybe consistently being in the European Cup for three-four years in a row.

Higuian, reminds me on andy cole, gets goals though not quite top class.

That miss in the world cup final.....

I wish we had an approved list of reputable sources because it's somewhat depressing to read 'several papers are reporting we're interested in signing Higuain' and then find out the 'papers' are the Metro, the Daily Star and Caught Offside. I think we should have an embargo on discussing potential transfers unless they come from someone reputable, which I admit is probably limited to the following:

Liverpool Echo (James Pearce)
Times (Tony Barrett only)
Express (Paul Joyce only)
Telegraph (Bascombe, despite my dislike for him)

Is that it?

You will love the RAWK transfer section.

I do think that sources should be given though so you know it is bollocks straight away. I would miss redhorizon2's postings from the Plymouth Herald myself.

Twitter ITKs should be given as the source where necessary so we can laugh at the posters who believe that the likes of Jay Riley are anything more than knobhead chancers.

Yeah I agree. I know I'm probably sucking the fun out of life here but I'd rather know where the stories are coming from - including which people on twitter - before I start getting my hopes up.

*nods vigorously*

I'm vacillating between both, then thinking we should sign both - which means we should go for neither
