Looks like Liverpool need a new assistant manager too. Hearing Steve Clarke has left out of loyalty to Dalglish.

Honestly if appoint a guy like Martinez, ahead of more qualified people, I'm moving on. Hard enough to support this club as it is.

So anyway, if Martinez is our new manager, are people going to get behind him and support him?

Just asking because we know how things went with Hodgson, people were against him from the start which didn't help.

Is the same going to happen here?

I'd support him but, like Hodgson, I don't think he's a good choice. I like the guy though whereas with the old doddering twat I couldn't stand him. The problem is - he's on a hiding to nothing with many fans already. Dalglish won silverware and got to another final and the signs of success were there albeit tempered with a shite league campaign. FSG would have been better off leaving Kenny in place and fail completely after another season and then the ground for the new guy would have been more welcoming and level. You support the club and who represent it as best as possible but fans these days aren't all like that are they ?

Leo, Modo, Moo - knock it on the head now. This is an emotive subject to debate the fuck out of not a bickering match. Carry it on and temporary bans will be in place.

Jurgen Klopp- thats top class is it?

you dont get better than kenny. simple.

I saw this coming. now all the clowns that wanted him to go heres whats going to happen :

martinez appointed.
30 mil spent on more toss.
dec 2012 - liverpool in 14th place in prem.
"sack him...not good enough. "

this attitude of wanting to keep up with the billionaires is going to cost you.

i tell you now 7th and a league cup is going to be something to be desired in 12 months time.
never mind the loss of a piece of our soul.

Jurgen Klopp has won the bundesliga with a squad having the average age of 24 for 2 seasons in a row now and beat Bayern (we're in the champions league final) Munich in the cup final last saturday to complete a double. He certainly has to be on the shortlist regardless of what your loyalty to kenny would suggest.

Look, obviously its a sad day and yes Kenny is top class, but as Kenny Dlaglish the legend not Kenny Dalglish the modern day manager. I truly wish it had worked out for him but it hasnt and we cant cry about it because modern football moves too fast for that. In fact Id go one further and say that those who are crying today are only crying for nostalgic reasons. Everybody knows that although we all wouldve have liked him to get another year, that ultimately it is the right call and the owners have shown the have the stones to make big decisions by making it.

As for martinez being appointed, I personally wouldnt be a fan of that. But if your calling me and the others that share my opinion clowns for being honest about it, calling a spade a spade and not being nostalgic, then your blindsided about it and I suggest you sign up with RAWK because you'll get no sympathy from me on the matter!

That's my worry Sunny, he's got no chance from the start in my opinion. Unless we win the first few games and are top two or three by Oct/Nov.

Feel sorry for whoever gets the job to be honest.

Can we stop all this slagging off of each other and acting like silly children.. If you don't like someone, just ignore them with that nice wee button, or head over to Craptalk or some other awful forum. We only take classy posters here (That's what I tell myself).

Ok,

That's hypocritical imo. You, and a few others, have been hoping he'd get canned or resigned.
What I meant was if we were wrong about Dalglish and the team suffers because of it, it'll affect everyone not just we who wanted Kenny to resign.

That's spot on. FSG are going to have to get lucky somewhere, either with an up-and-coming manager would delivers on the bigger stage or to attract a big name manager with high profile previous success and who buys into the whole 'restore the giant to former glories' idea.

So we are relying on luck via some baseball fans with money who fancied something new to play with.

We should ALWAYS back a new manager, but its a shocking shocking decision if we get Martinez in. People will not sit and let the club be taken the piss out of and sit idly by.

People weren't against Hodgson from the start - I miss the Pete of old ... You used to be one of the best posters on here too.

Once he finishes 7th, and wins nothing, we'll request he's let go. The only way a manager stays at Liverpool is he, as per the proper fans, is if he wins a proper cup (league or Europe). Everything else is shit.

That's a real shame too. He's an excellent coach, who has trained PL winning players. They don't grow on trees. This is getting shitter and shittier.

No, if you're wrong about Daglish, it will be even more painful than it is now because instead of destroying a Legend, you'd have eagerly wanted a move that will possibly destroy the club.

I'm truly heart broken ... I just hope the club I love manages to do it's thing (I hope you guys can be right)

Yup.

I'll support him and give him a fair chance. I dont think Martinez is who we need. We need someone with the right pedigree, who has won silverware and know what it takes.

I think the league campaign in itself deserved this outcome. Its been horrendous. Sad but true.

I agree with your general point, but the audience for LFC in the US is so insignificant that no one would base significant decisions on it. Or was that not meant to be serious?

I'm serious in saying that's what crossed my mind last night. I don't think they got rid of him for that though.
