I think it's a little pointless getting a huff with regards to the people that want kenny gone. from a personal point of view I think kenny should be given another season to right his wrongs but I'm not going to attack the people who want him out, let's be honest here;
1. we have no idea what our overall tactics are.
our tactics change almost on a game to game basis. defending deep one day and pressing high the other other game and that's just the tip of the iceberg, late subs, wingers swapping flanks, sometimes we look like we don't know what the fuck we're doing.
ultimately what is it kenny is trying to do?
2. after the arsenal game the entire team looked disinterested.
the fans were turning their eyes to the fa cup semi/final but kenny should have been able to keep the players eyes on the ball.
one game at time? isn't kenny supposed to be a great man manager. our attitude post arsenal was a best pathetic and at worst a fucking disgrace. dispite ross' claims to the contray the manager has a lot to do with this.
3. we didn't take full advantage of our slump.
props to kenny to sticking with the young henderson and building for the future, but the failure to use coates for the aging carra with next to nothing to lose in the league was baffling.
4. players picked 'because' not based on form.
maxi was scoring and was dropped, carroll was finding form and was in and out of the side, enrique played long after his form had gone to the dogs. injuries didn't help, lucas getting crocked certainly couldn't have helped and the injury prone aurelio was trusted to step in for enrique.
5. 100m spent
and how many of those players have truly delivered? 3 (at a push)?
a shocking waste of money, that 100m could have been far better utlised.
I think there are two ways you can go, you can either panic and hire a manager who will say 'fuck performances' and grind out a top 4 finish (cappello) or you can say 'fuck top 4' and build a future, go the bilao route and develope your stars and trust your scouts to pick out the next rough diamond. the former a short term approach, the latter a long term approach, neither of which is best suited to kenny.
so when I defend kenny it is based on kenny doing things I like 'some' of the time (to me that shows he's capable of a strong finish) and from a personal point of view I always think a manager should be given time, and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a kenny fan but that's just my personal opinion. if someone wants kenny out I have no REAL arguement for them because let's be honest here, the signings, tactics and 8th place finish would have seen him removed from any top placed club and would have seen him removed at this club but he is king fucking kenny and that counts for a hell of a long at liverpool football club.
