So who do we want/expect/hope?

Probably this, and in this order;

Deschamps
Rafa
AVB

Been pretty impressed by what Deschamps has achieved with Marsielle, and I do think he could make the step up to the prem.
Rafa has to be given serious consideration, he knows the club, the staff and a lot of the players and it would allow for the easiest transition. Whether we transition into a top 4 team again remains to be seen, but it would be all out from game one. Personally, I'd want assurances over his ability to work with the yanks before inviting him back though.
AVB can't be judged fairly on the Chelsea job, IMO, and while he is a cocky tw@ he does seem to have a good philosophy regarding his teams. Without the prima donnas at Liverpool, it could work out.

As much as I like the guy, I don't want Martinez. He has a long way to go before proving he is capable of achieving more with a team than promotion, by the skin of their teeth.

they say you should never go back in football and some want to do it for a second time !!

I wanted to win the league and i didn't think rafa would be able to do that , mainly because he was his own worst enemy at times . You could argue we might aswell just have kept him considering what we have done since but the mistake wasn't letting him go , it was fucking up his replacement .

I understand how people can like rafa , he won a European Cup , FA cup and challenged for the league once . But the obsession with him i just never , ever got. frankly i think it's bit embarrassing

'Embarrassing' is an odd word to use. Why is it embarrassing to want a manager back that did all of what you wrote (highlighted above)? In my opinion it's a sensible suggestion. And before Oncy coughs up his pelvic bone in disgust - I think Rafa is a fair shout. I think I'd prefer De Boer or Dechamps though.

Also just something I am curious about - Do people think that if FSG get Martinez in they're being forward thinking and slightly daring or just safe (Premier League experience) and cheap? I can't for the life of me see why they would get him in!

I can see why they might be interested. He is generally highly regarded and they probably want someone young who might be around for a while. Personally I think he might do okay, though admittedly he wouldn't be my first choice.

As regards the rest of them, I certainly don't want Benitez back. Not keen on Capello. Rodgers has turned us down anyway, which is a relief.

I think AVB would be my number one choice at the moment. He didn't do well at Chelsea at all, but given time I think he might be a good manager. Having said that, the owners haven't seemed keen on giving people time so far have they!

Life is like a meal, you chuck things in hoping it tastes wicked, what you dont do is go back and re-make something that made you sick.Been there and HATED it.

Unless you realise that the first time you made it, your main ingredient was not ripe yet and you used the wrong condiments.

Youre wrong Neil. Most MOST fans had had enough. You claimed a minority and thats been evidenced as incorrect so now you are throwing in caveat. MOST wanted a change. Even some of his strongest supporters had their fill.
Its easy to think back after two abject years and think everything was rosy under Rafa bu that last year was every bit as fucking tragic. Maybe Docs right and he has learned. I doubt it. Hes too fucking arrogant and stubborn. I think if he came back wed quickly remember what it was that turned 100% of us in 2005 to 13% of us in 2010 supporting him.

Its shit that people have forgotten what a mess we were.

I dunno mate. I remember what a mess we were, I just don't blame it all on Rafa.

I reckon that if Rafa gets an interview, he'll get the job.

I don't care who's supposedly advising FSG. Rafa would be far more impressive in presenting a vision for LFC than any other candidate.
Hell, I reckon if Rafa got 30 minutes to talk LFC and football to Oncy he'd have him in his pocket too.

Yup. We had a great season the year before, nearly won the league and played some of the best football I've seen us play. We had awful injuries and Torres was acting like a soppy cunt. Rafa made mistakes, and he should have replaced Keane, but his hands had been tied in the last year in terms of bringing people in.

Under the right circumstances Rafa could be a great pick. Yes, I'd take some ludicrously exciting manager before him, but only a small number. The best man for me has just been sacked, but I'd take Rafa within the right structure that allows us to take advantage of his undoubted talents.
