So who do we want/expect/hope?

it was a sabbatical not a resgination. how I wish kenny had done that 20 years ago. take a year off, recharge your batteries and come back with renewed energy. decisions made in haste regretted at leisure

Just like Shanks' premature departure twenty years before that.

Got a text this morning and I've seen the same info on twitter. Don't know how true it is but Ayre has allegedly closed the door on Rafa even getting an interview. But give it an hour and he'll be right back in the mix!!

From what I'm reading on RAWK, it's gonna be AVB. He has the experience, he has worked with Clarke before, he's young etc.

S
can someone provide he latest update on where things stand?

rogers - out (thank god)
klopp - out (sad)
martinez - still in?
capello - chelsea destined (sad)
AVB - still in?
de boer, guardiola?

Some reports suggest Laudrup added to that list. Lambert too.

Barrett seems to be the most clued up journo these days, if he says no Rafa then no Rafa.

lots of people think his source is ayre, you don't get better source than that other than henry himself.

barrett said on twitter that he just reports what he hears (no rafa) and that his source couldn't be better placed.

£100M says you are wrong on that count !
How do you mean?
I don't doubt that Kenny was one million percent commited to liverpool but I am not convinced that he fully bought into FSG's ideas as they didn't to his.

also telling that they didn't give a penny to kenny in the winter, I think because they wanted to give it all to the new guy and there is also the chance that the new guy didn't want any of the winter signings.

KD wanted winter signings, a defensive midfielder and striker - jelavic who has gone to everton.

This was blocked by camoli and was played a part in his sacking

Actually, I forgot that Clarke and him have worked together. Might add a bit of pragmatism to AVB's theory.

Rafa twist: Liverpool HAVE now approached former boss about return

Rodgers snub leads Reds chiefs to make contact with the Champions League winner - but would he work with a director of football?

Rafa Benitez has been approached by Liverpool as their search for a new boss took another twist.
After being snubbed by Swansea’s Brendan Rodgers on Friday, Liverpool have continuedtheir hunt for Kenny Dalglish’s successor by speaking to their former manager.
The Spaniard left Anfield in 2010 before Fenway Sports Group bought Liverpool and they are impressed by his CV.
Benitez has been itching to return since quitting Inter Milan 18 months ago and has long hoped to take over from Dalglish.
He feels he has unfinished business, because of the way his six-year reign ended unhappily in June 2010 after Liverpool finished seventh in the Premier League.
The Champions League-winning boss has been plotting a return from his home on the Wirral and has kept in touch with Kop fans groups, who would welcome him back.

But it is unclear how serious FSG are about Benitez, because they have identified so many candidates and already have permission to speak to Wigan boss Roberto Martinez.
Benitez, 52, may also have reservations about having to work with a director of football as he had established total control on the playing side by the time he left Anfield.

I'd love to be on the losing side of this bet. Anyway....time to see Russia play Finland.

I've heard that SoS are trying to organize a meeting with the owners with a view to re-instate Rafa as manager.
If them cunts are the voice of LFC we are all fucked.

The owners put that lot well back in their box when they tried the same approach after the takeover. I wouldn't worry too much.

Nobody gives a manager £100M to spend if they are not committed to the team, and to the manager since they are trusting his judgement. The feeling may or may not have been mutual, that can only be speculated upon, but commitment was shown by both sides whether or not their respective visions were the same or differed.
