Haha that's for me in 2 weeks going with me da on the yearly Christmas Waitrose trip to buy 17 cheeses where he'll put most of them in the freezer and throw them out by march

Emery or Glasner for me, not interested in anyone else on that list. Can't see Emery leaving Villa unfortunately, Glasner more likely. Both have have been remarkable.
Emery is no for me, does he have the potential to win us the league, no! Glasner, is interesting, handled Guehi situation brilliantly. Alonso has won the league in atop 5 league.

It's going to be Glasner.

Not the most exciting but he's a safe option, with a strong personality. Don't think Hughes will gamble too much and we've always done well with ze Germans.

Xabi odds must be dropping fast. Likely to be sacked by RM sooner or later this season. He must have been high on our list prior to Slot's appointment. The timing could be just right next Summer.

He's not German though, FFS!

He isnt?

You could copy paste Ange there too.

No!
Ange isn’t a double European cup winner.

I think O’Neill would command the respect of the players and motivate them to give 110%.

I agree tactically he may not be up there but as an interim he doesn’t need to be. Pick players that will run through walls for the club and the results will improve in the short term while we look for a long term successor.

Honestly I'm over the "Isnt Glasner a cunt" thing now. Not my top choice but I'll gladly take him.

Glasner doesn’t strike me as someone who has the temperament for a club who is expected to win every single time they step onto the pitch.

Would love to be proven wrong.

Emery doesnt have the potential to win us the league? How do you come to that conclusion? yet Glasner I presume you think has?

Alonso is clearly not liked by the players at Madrid, cause for concern for me that.

I like ONeill a lot but he hasn't managed in the PL in years. Villa last time out?

I'm assuming the MON shout is a temporary one, until we get the right person in. Depends on how long it takes to get the right choice and if we survive with Slot, or need to cut the chord. I'm moving towards not being rash at the minute, the Salah stuff may actually help bring the (rest of the) squad together.

From previous reading of articles, something common that Iraola and Glasner shared was how they came through poor runs of results. Last season they had to deal with 7 and 8 game winless streaks respectively. However, they managed to overcome the challenge while keeping the players onside. Glasner adjusted Palace’s shape and defensive structure, whereas Iraola tweaked Bournemouth’s press and build-up patterns. In short, they come across as managers with resilience, tactical conviction, man-management strength, and long-term clarity.

Emery, though, is obviously the standout option experience-wise. Just a look at his CV alone shows the pedigree and the level he has operated at consistently. And he's "only" 54.

Emery feels like a manager who has an excellent average, but the ceiling is just below where we need our managers to be.

Is he? He's only had one real shot at a 'big club' if you can call post Wenger Arsenal that. And like post-Fergusson, or maybe Klopp, that is always doomed to be a rocky job. He's largely excelled and over delivered everywhere he's been. I was surprised he wasn't more linked when we were scoping.

Insulting people’s weight while making a point. Stay classy.
Why wouldnt you reply to the questions I put to you last week?
Instead you reply to this post and still didn't even actually reply to the point about you would have been happy with Ange getting the liverpool job after klopp

Yeah, there were language barriers (the “good ebening” jibes) and squad issues (Ozil, Aubameyang) during his time at Arsenal as well.

One of his main strengths is how he manages to develop players and bring out their best—for example, Konsa, Rodgers, and Watkins at Villa. In his previous stint as head coach at Villarreal before joining Villa, Pino, Jackson, and Torres also flourished. Players like Isco, Alba, Bernat, and Saka made their debuts under him.

All said, I don't think he's a gettable target.

We should, and I think Edwards/Hughes will obviously do this, is to evaluate the candidates that fit our strategy, playing style, squad and tactics. We can't turn into Utd who swap managers that are even remotely suited or similar and then spend each transfer window playing catch up. Thats a recipe for ending up like those cunts.

Any new manager must be a good fit for whats already here, future transfer strategies and long term planning in terms of player logistics, squad, culture and transfers.

Xabi would be excellent imho. He knows the club, league and has already a pedigree of winning trophies.
His favored 3-4-2-1 would be very suited to our squad I reckon.

Signing Guehi as the left sided CB, Virgil in the middle and Konate/Leoni/Gomez as RCB.
Kerkez and Frimpong/Bradley would be great as wing backs, and you would get the best out of Wirtz/Szobo as the 10s. Wirtz in his favored left sided 10 role.
Isak and Ekitike are excellent as the nr 9.

Strange to hope that City win tomorrow and that Xabi could get fired, but it would solve a lot for us.

Am I imagining things or was Emery at PSG also?

I think we considered Alonso a year and a half ago. But we also considered Amorim, which is worrying.

I would prefer someone knowing the league and its uniqueness, avoiding the ‘child illnesses’ that newcomers often display.

Alonso having played here and for us covers for that, so I would be open to him, although he does not have the amount of experience I would have wanted from a manager.

Neither Iraola nor Glasner excite me that much. I am not sure they can be top tier.
Managing Liverpool is quite a step up, as Slot is also experiencing.

I don’t think we considered Amorim. It’s been reported that he wasn’t suited for us or the squad.
