Southampton v Liverpool Match Thread

That was the biggest match we had left that.

Chelsea is hard, obv, but we are at home, that match was harder, & the timing made it more important IMO.

HUGE win that.

Eighty fucking two fucking points. How many times in the last 30 years would that win a title?

If we get just six more points it's our highest ever in the top flight, & we'd have the seventh highest number of points in English top-flight history, with just six more points. Yet could still come second. It's madness.

Two goals scored from midfield tonight, that's like rocking horse shit it's that rare for us.
I'm taking credit for that. From my post earlier about them not contributing enough !

Plus I had a double espresso at HT, that is undoubtedly a bok-breaker.

This is in our hands now as far as I'm concerned. Fuck the maths, citeh will drop points, they can't keep this run up, they just can't, we can win our remaining games (I think we'll draw one myself though).

BTW, Klopp again changed the match & won it with his subs, second week running. Top marks for the manager.

FT Thank fuck!

Over to you citeh, PRESSURE ON when they go into a manic manic spell of matches.

We need to beat Chelsea first to do that.

Almost 5 years to the day when the title race switched hands.

Sunday. Liverpool losing at home to Chelsea 2-0. Then Man City went on to beat Palace away immediately after 2-0.

This year, the order is swapped.

City play Palace first (a) and then we play Chelsea at home.

It would be sooooooooooooo sweet if 5 years on, the results reversed.

Palace beating City and us beating Chelsea. Written in the stars, hopefully.

It feels like every match is the biggest nowadays!

Well a literally is, cos each three points is essential.

However, the timing of this, & it being the hardest away we had left as well, meant this was the one I was most worried about us fucking up, & teh timing of citeh's matches coming up made it more important we keep the pressure on too, so all in all, this was the biggest IMO.

16 - Following their come-from-behind victory, Liverpool have won 16 points from losing positions in the Premier League, the most of any side this season. Backbone.

Psychologically, the Chelsea game is going to be HUGE for the Anfield crowd.

We can't afford to go behind and then get memories of 5 years ago and panic the players.

Keita scored, indifferent start (that physicality caught him out again as he fucked up 50/50s), but kept working & winning balls & then kept making runs, finally finding the back of the net & then winning a fair few physical duels & 50/50s.

Salah scored, & not just any goal, a world-class goal, so we now have two players we desperately needed firing both full of confidence. at a crucial time.

Brilliant interview, Carra runs on from the middle of Salah interview and nicks the microphone from Kelly Cates to chat to Mom.

Jamie Carragher: "Massive result. This Liverpool team keeps getting questioned because no-one feels they're on the level of Man City and I can understand why. People question their nerve. This is a team that have the best away record in the Premier League. The last two away games have been level with 15 minutes to go. They've won 10 out of the last 11. They keep answering these questions all the time."

I'm not sure that's a worry, the crowd have watched us go behind & go on to win a lot this season. Remember Utd under Fergie, they'd go behind & I'd slump, cos I knew it'd wake them up & they'd just find a way to get the points no matter what. That's us now. fans have memories of Ian Wright screaming "What'd you have to go an annoy them for?!" after that scored against us & we just blew them away.

Legend.
