1 League goal this season..

Seems we have this effect on 'Star' players who leave the club..

Rush
Fowler
Owen
Torres

Now Suarez..

Only 'Star' striker to mind I can think of who didn't seem affected by this hoodoo was Aldo..

Would you be happy with that from, say, Balotelli?

No, because Balotelli doesn't help the rest of the side out in his overall play.

Suarez still looks threatening and you can still see his overall class when he plays.

Wouldn't surprise me if he produces a hatrick sometime soon and silences any critics.

We should have put in a clause for first buy pack option on him like arse did with Cesc.

Will end up at chelsea if he comes back to england

Thats a certainty ..

I can't beleive thbollox headlines today.. Messi to Cheslea..

erm even they cannot get round FFP to purchase him.. His buyout clause is 400 mill Euro's

We design our play around our star striker once we realise they have the most talent in the squad. We therefore restrict other (lesser) players games in order to facilitate the talent of our star. In doing so the club make a world-class player resemble the worlds best player. It's something we've done very well in recent years.

The problem for the player is when he leaves for bigger and better things, they are not the main man any more. Attacks are no longer built with them them solely in mind and that will take some adjustment in their game. Suarez's talent will shine through eventually, but I do wonder if they ever get the same sort of impact he had for us.

His season is only 12 games old though. Bit early for this.
He also had no pre season and didn't play a competitive game for several months.
12 games 3 goals and 6 assists. Not all bad considering.

He's been decent in the games I've seen, but asked to play a role that doesn't really suit him as you can see he's trying to get others into play all the time which hampers his natural play imho.
He's also not that sharp in front of goal yet but that will come.

If this turns out to another players peak at a certain age discussion, then I hope the whole forum burns to ground. Slowly.

His Wiki page says that he scored 68 in 230 for us, and a combined 117 in 236 for Hamburg, Southampton and Newcastle

I see what you mean, but that must be the worst example anyone could think of

I remember under Clough that Nottingham Forest strikers failed elsewhere. Birtles and Davenport come to mind - both went to United - but I think there were a few others.

He went from Liverpool to Hamburg as I said... (ok got him mixed up with Birtles, jesus, getting old, older than Gerry.)
