But yeh a dumping of week old shellfish on Westminster would be a sight to behold. Perhaps not a smell to behold

(I can't resist an open goal)

Probably better than the usual smell in London of piss and rats.

This is the dumbest thing I've read on this forum, outside of the Bid D vs Twitter thread. Jesus Christ.

It only sounds dumb to you because you are associating private companies with capitalism. I really can't be arsed arguing over your misconception.

Pardon my ignorance, but why was fishing pushed to the forefront of a lot of Brexit talks when it is not really one of our major contributors?

Surely other sectors like nightlife which contributes so much more, but has been fucked over by both covid, and now brexit should have been more of a focus.

You could ask the same thing about the irish inconvenience.

That’s an easy one to answer.

The NI question was only relevant as long as the Tories needed them DUP for a majority - as soon as Boris didn’t - he fucked then over and did the thing he swore he would never do and put a customs barrier in the Irish Sea - then pretended he didn’t.

It gained a certain amount of political importance rather than huge economic importance in the grand scheme of things. The Common Fisheries Policy certainly didn’t help the UK when considered on it’s own and so having control of fishing waters was something that could be identified and WAS identified as part of Brexit. That is not me arguing for it’s importance, by the way, but when you have fishing fleets from other EU countries having the right to fish in UK waters and in many cases depending on those rights to fish in UK waters, and then you have UK fishing fleets that are limited in the same way on their rights to fish in UK waters then it was bound to be an issue in it’s own right.

Other sectors are of course more important but they may not have the same kind of specific rules around them. You mention nightlife though, out of interest do you mean the potential damage due to a decrease in tourism or controls on immigration?

Cheers for that Richey, I completely agree about the rights to fish in UK waters issue being wrong and clearly problematic. Seems a bit mad to make this such a huge issue when logic would suggest focusing on which industries that contribute more to the economy.

Mainly about how the industry has been completely ravaged by Covid, and many people who work in the industry feel that they have not been properly supported, and also the new issue regarding touring visa's which the EU have claimed Britain are responsible for allowances not being made. Gigs and clubbing contributes a huge amount of money and the government seem happy to make it difficult for the sector to operate.

You mean like this:

Is anyone up to speed with Germany's the EU's latest investment deal with China? Seems like the elite overlords have given up on their EU project, and want to use the last drop of leverage they have left to beg China to look after their money when they send it there way. Who would have ever guessed that would happen.

It's a great deal for billionaires.

Not so great for the Uighurs who will still be allowed to be used as slave labour.

The biggest american poker site has been plagued by unexplained server problems for months on end now. It's turned to shite. A chinese rival site has become pretty big in the meantime, a lot of the top players have moved there, depositing millions. This was a one of the biggest tournaments they've held with a $10m prize pool. 6000 odd players. The final table is:

No ethidence of fraud at all. None. When it comes to fair competition, there is no better place to deposit your money than China. Never heard of any of those three chinese players. Noobs, until now. Everyone else on that table has career earnings in the hundreds of thousands.
